I'm building a website for a friend who has no html skills.

They want to have an availability calander they can update themselves - how can I integrate this into my dreamweaver site - can I build in a wysiwyg editor or is the only way to go for a content management system?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

it would have to be php or asp (or some form of dynamic page). eg.
Cms is easier and already built if you dont mind the limitations of cms.
Building an editor and calendar solution can take some major time. Why re-invent the wheel, easpesially if not a 'corporate site/request'.
take a look at Joomla/mambo or something simple as wordpress or durpal.
All the best!

Hi

Thanks for helping me out again!!!

so if I go for CMS there is a calender module - it's for renting properties rather than event management.

I have put off going down the CMS route until now but guess it's inevitable - just trying to get my head around it!

Hey CharlotteL,
In this case I would really recomend Joomla but be prepared to learn new things ;) not a 'DW world'.
Beats handcoding a portal of that size.
Here is the exention that already does what you are after:

Great, thanks.

Any suggestions as to how to get to grips with Joomla?

Thanks as ever

Charlotte

Joomla runs on MySQL & PHP and many features are obviosly geared towards *nix based hosts. So that is your prerequisit...not sure who your host is. About 98% of the fetures will run on windows php host as well...maybe image gzip will not be there.
Their forums are pretty good source of 'how tos'.
If your/his host provides Fantastico then install is a 5min thing.
All the best!
