One of my users wants his secretary to answer all of his calls before they get to him. Currently, his extension is set up as MDN MNS on her phone, so if someone calls his extension, she hears it ringing and answers. However, if he is already on the phone, the ODN2 line doesn't show on her phone. Is there a way to do this in BC9? Thanks in advance...

Have you tried to activate open on second line feature ? (ODN2 I think it is called, and must be programmed on the phone whose telephone is to answered by secretary).

Hi
U have to activate the ODN2 feature in Key function, and program the boss telephone in a key as MDN as CALT=1.
U can have two calls on both the access keys, and again if u see the Boss tel. blinking/ringing end one call and attend to it

Hi,
Another solution:
1) make folloe-me or diversion on boss phone to secretary;
2) make ADN line between boss and secretary.
Secretary will answer to all boss calls and if necessary call to boss via ADN. Boss will answer only if ADN rings.

The way you have done it is fine. MNS on key on boss & secretary phone. Then CDINI his phone to the Secretary's. If you have voice-mail in your system, add: A60A****B in the DIG parameter on the MNS number of both users (**** being the MNS extension number). This will stop it going to voice-mail!! Remember to put an ODN2 on the secretary's phone for when calls are Diverted to her and she is already on the phone.

Thanks congolad. If I CDINI divert his phone, though, doesn't that mean that a call after hours or when both are on the phone would go to her voicemail, not his?

Unfortunately, yes. This can be overcome by using a PELPI instead of the CDINI. But BC9 doesn't support PELPI!!
PELPI is a really useful command and can even be programed as a function key on a Digital phone.

Soss !!!
