Can 2nd line ring while you are on the 1st line

Hi guys I am working on a 3300 cx on 9.0. I have set up call forward busy external feature to forward calls to the back line while users are on the phone. My question is, is there a way to make this 2nd line ring aloud while the user is on the phone? all I get is a visual indication that the line is ringing.

What do you mean by "back line", another extension? There are several ways to do this. Route the caller through call reroute first choice to the second line or program the "back line" with the same extension as the first key and set it up as either key or multicall with ringing.

You need to assign a ring type of "ring continuous" in Multiline Set Key Assignment on the secondary line.

With normal ring, you should get an half duration burst ring tone from the speaker when the second line rings. With continuous ring you should get normal ring tone from the speaker multiple times.

You say you are only getting visual indication. This tells me that something else is preventing the ringtone. If you are on speakerphone for example, you cannot get a second ring.

Give us some more info if the above does not help.

Hey guys. Having similar problem with 2nd call coming in.
I have 2 phone with multicall button on button 2. If both girls are on the phone the next call that comes in does not ring at either phone. I have both exts. programmed as ring continuos and the multicall button programmed as ring cont. Not sure what I missed. One ext did beep 1 time on second call but that no longer works.
Sure could use some help, customer missing calls.

Are they using headsets? Just guessing but that might be a factor.

I've noticed the same happening on my system. Try changing the ring on the phone. I can't recall since I'm not at a phone now, but the audible notification will not play if the speed of the ring is either the fast or the slow one. Try bumping the "ringtone" up or down a notch and see if this helps.
