Hi;
we have a NetWorker 6.1.2 server at Windows2000.

the backup server has been working fine until now; when we want to inventory the library, the following error is reported:can´t fetch old volumes

Do you know this error?

Thanks.

Sounds like the media db is corrupt.
Try an nsrim -X first.

Hi; thanks for your help.
We have runed nsrim -X but the problem have not been solutioned.

before running nsrim -X run nsrck -L6 this command re-builds the client indexes first

I also have the same configuration and get the same error. But only happens after a re-boot. Any ideas?

hi guys, you will need to try a scavenge of the media index, make sure there are no saves or recovers running and do the following...make sure you have a bootstrap before you do this also.

Step 1) stop NetWorker services
Step 2) in /nsr/mm remove .compressed
(Step 2 is to force NetWorker to compress the media db)
Step 3) in /nsr/mm/mmvolume6 delete all files except the following: volhdr, vol.0, ss.0, clients.0
(Step 3 is simply a way to force NetWorker to rebuild the media db)
Step 4) in /nsr/tmp remove all files
Step 5) restart NetWorker services
Step 6) run nsrim -X

Should the scavenge of the data base result in the same behavior, and mmrecover would be needed to restore the media data base to a point in time when it was working.

cheers, Craig

I need information on reporting. I to know how to report the total amount of data backed up with in 24 hours..
