Hi there, I am using XP Pro Service Pack 1.

Anyone who wants to tell me to
A) Check for Spyware
B) Check for Virus'
C) Upgrade to SP2

Just stop reading now. Hit the back button and try to help someone else. I'm clean and I'm not going to upgrade to SP2. No, I dont care how many fixes it has, I am not upgrading. Last time I did it crashed my computer. Twice.

Everyone good?

Alright:
When I plug in my camera instead of giving me a G: drive showing the contents of my memory card like it normally does, it now shows up as an unknown device.

I have tried deleting the USB devices, restarting and then trying to connect it again but it goes back to unknown.
I have tried plugging it into 5 different USB ports, no go.

I have tried using a different memory card, formatting both of them, but I cant get it to read.

I plugged the camera into my roommates XP SP2 computer, and that didn't work either; same result.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

It used to work. It should work again. And I wonder why I have problems with USB printers. :(

have you checked to make sure you've loaded usb 2.0 drivers for your system?

check device mangler and make sure it says usb enhanced.

Try a different camera or other usb storage device. Could be the camers died.

Roger that, I'll try my old camera and see if that works, and I've got the correct USB drivers installed already.

Thanks!

I'd recommend reinstalling your chipset drivers and the camera drivers again. If that fails you should install SP2.

I hope you were joking about the SP2 thing...

There are no camera drivers to speak of. It is a USB driver, not a camera driver.

I finally got it to work by deleting all my USB drivers, using a new USB cable, and then plugged in my camera with no memory card whatsoever. It installed correctly, then I put in my memory card then plugged it back in and it worked fine.

I have no idea what the reason for it was.
