calls interceptions

hello team,

I'm struggling on a task my manager ask me to do and i really need your help.
in fact my manager asked me to allow some users (extensions) to intercept calls according to the group they belong to.
that means if extensions (3000,...,3005) belong to the IT group. only ext 3000 should be able to intercept calls in the IT Group.
and i have to do that for 6 ext.
he wants the job to be done by monday 9th March 2020.
Please guys help me out.

I know someone who goes to sleep on weekends at work just for this problem [morning]


System: Avaya Aura V6.3
software used : site admin
 
How are the calls getting delivered to the groups? Cover answer group, hunt group?
Bridged appearance might help or even a pickup group.
 
He didn't give me any information, I'm new with the system I used to work on IPOffice.

Can I have a doc concerning the config of one of those configuration?
 
cm feature description and implementation guide is your best friend. You still need to know how the calls come in to know what features to use to change it.

What does "intercept" even mean? As in, 3000 can press a button and no more calls will go to the group and only to Mr 3000? Or, Mr 3000 needs the ability to answer any calls that are ringing the IT group?

Does every call to the IT group ring every phone in the IT group? Does it ring them one at a time with each call round-robin - first call to 3001, next to 3002, etc or does every call ring on 3001 first and only to 3002 if 3001 is not available and so on?

Without knowing how stuff behaves now, it's hard to tell you what to change. It seems rather unrealistic of your manager to expect such a vague ask to be ready for Monday morning.

What happens if nothing changes by Monday morning? Regular status quo and life goes on? That sounds far better for you, being able to properly understand the ask and not just bang in some programming that will make people mad.

Protip: Every time you're dealing with management who don't have or need a thorough understanding of "how things work", no matter how much you spell it out, everything you program will be wrong and not exactly what they wanted.

If I were you, I'd get Visio, draw a flowchart of what's happening, print it on the biggest paper you can find, get pencils and erasers and let them spell it out.
 
What i have noticed in the IT GROUP when someone is receiving a call. One of the IT group also receives a notification and can pick up the call with while pressing button 1.
