thread799-365897

Hi Folks, I've referenced another thread that addressed the number of rings before going to voicemail --- which I read with interest. I am new to this group.

MY HANDSET IS A NORSTAR M7310.

"All of a sudden" 2 days ago some of the calls to my extension started going to voicemail without ringing.

My phone is known by 2 extensions to our phone system. As extension "1 " to the outside world. Extension "299" internally.
Calls to extension 299 ring normally at my desk and I can answer them.
Calls to extension 1, however, go straight to voicemail without ever ringing.

I can't figure out how or why, or what I did, possibly, to make this happen. I did not go into the system and deliberately reset this --- as the solution to the previous thread calls for doing.

I've made sure I am not in "do not disturb" mode. And that voice calls are allowed. And I can't find any other feature to reset.

Of course our tech support service is not available because it's a holiday weekend. I'd love to try to figure out what needs resetting before I deal with them on Monday.

Anyone have any thoughts on this particular spin on the problem?

Thanks. - NealFitz

299 is an Extension or better yet a DN (= Directory Number)
1 is Path or Option from the CCR menu which is part of the Auto Attendant

If it is only those whom press 1 from the Auto Attendant then most likely one of these:
Path 1 has been told to LVMSG (Leave Message) at DN 299 instead of TRSF Internal to 299
or
DN Dialing was mistakenly disabled under Table programming, you disable for Morn, Aft, Eve or Non-bus.

curlycord, thank-you for your reply.

I can follow what you wrote. But having no clue how I "got here", and no experience except with the most basic of settings, ... should I simply wait for my Tech people on Monday for further instruction?

Thanks for the information.

If you are just a user then you should report the issue to the office manager/IT dept or one whom is in charge of the phone system issues, they in turn will either fix it because they have had the administration training or they will call the vendor for service because they have not had admin training or it fall in the category of technicians programming.
There is a Phone system and a Voicemail system on the wall, not knowing the password, how to get into programming or navigate could cause issues.

You will not get training in a forum on how to program.

So yes wait for Monday.

As curlycord said let the IT dept take care of this as you would get lost in a ccr tree for sure.

All - thanks for your input. And yes I would have gotten lost in the solution. I had our tech rep work on this, and he walked me through many many steps to get the calls to ring through at my desk. It's still unclear how that the issue was created in the first place. But it had to do with an extension being improperly defined (all of a sudden, seemingly). All was resolved and I apologize for not updating sooner.

These random glitches just happen sometimes. We just had a big wind, rain, lighting storm a couple of weeks ago and I am still getting repair calls for just random things that got defaulted or changed in programming from the power surges and a 7 or 8 hour power outage.
