Hi Guys,

Me and a colleague are nearly bald from pulling our hair out over this one.

Heres the run down.

Alcatel system linked to IP 406 WAN port. 406 is on version 6.1 this has R4 dect on the Kit.

IP406 has SCN trunk to IP500 running same level and 96xx series phones.

The dect can call to the alcatel and receive calls perfectly.

If you call from a 96xx the alcatel can answer speach everything is good. If you call from the alcatel to the 96xx and it is set to use G711A the call drops on answer. If you call from the alcatel to the 96xx with codec of G729 you get no speach path.

We have the exact same setup in another location talking to the same alcatel system and this works fine.

PLEASE HELP ME!! i wont blame anyone if they dont want to touch this one. I know its killing me.

MASIVE thank you in advance if anyone can help.

Is direct media path disabled on your trunks and 96xx? also try adding all available codecs in the system settings and line settings of the ipo

I just take it that you are on the latest firmware 6.1.20 and that the IP phones are running
9620 & 9630 & 9640 & 9650 Boot Code 3.1.1
9620 & 9630 & 9640 & 9650 App 3.1.1

if you take direct media path out then you eliminate network failures and put the IPO in charge of the connection. If the connection then fails it must me a problem with the phones. If it then works it might be a routing issue with the IPO if you have the LAN connected to the IP phones and the WAN connecting to the Alcatel.

you might want to take the IPO out and put a SpliceCom in :) just kidding of course

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.

HaHAHAHAHA westi that was my first thought lol.

I have been reviewing the setup we have thats the same and working and that has allow direct media path all the way through. It also turns out the working system the ip 500 is on R8 so we have upgraded the non working sites 500 to this aswell and still the same. BUGGER!

I have a callegue on site and asked him to try and grab some wiresharks when connected to the 406.

The bezzar thing is that it works outbound but no speach on incomming. It reminds me of a similar issue i had with trying to route sip from one site down an scn to another and not getting speach but i dont remeber how i fixed that :(

DMP will not work if you have LAN to WAN connections without the proper IP routes in place and quite frankly I don't like the IPO doing routing as the poor little box is stressed enough with phone calls
If you start a call from the 96xx sets then it might not go over to DMP if it discovers a problem, you can monitor the resources in SSA and see if it actually drops the VCM channel when the call is in full swing.
