callpilot -vnc

sorry if this wrong forum.

on callpilot, we have pcAnywhere for our vendor to dial-in and connect. the guy before me was never able to connect using pcanywhere internally. callpilot server is on nt4 server. what other remote access can I use? looking into realvnc but don't want to install anything on callpilot that would intefere or cause issues. thanks for any input.
 
Were on CallPilot 1002rp server w/NT and we have the same situation...I asked about Dameware and VNC, basically the response was you can do what ever you want but when it breaks were gonna charge you to fix it. It would be nice if Nortel looked at other solutions.
 
We use Dameware to connect to all of our Nortel boxes Symposium, OTM, and CallPilot. Never had any issues with doing so.

If PCAnywhere (HOST) is setup correctly You should be able to connect by using PCAnywhere (Remote). What is the error you get when connecting?
 
we are lic for host only on pcanywhere so in process of buying remote. I am looking for other alternatives of accessing internally or through vpn w/ dialing into pcanywhere as our vendors do.
 
we are using pc anywhere ont he net without a problem. out server has pc anywhere host on the image disk

pcAnywhere should work just fine. If you need the remote application I would just purchase it. Your vendor is correct. If you load any other applications and it fails, and they dial in and see you have just voided any maintenance or warranty you have on the system.

It sounds funny, like they are trying to get you to purchase more software, but that is the normal maintenance portal for Call Pilot and Symposium.

turtlezzz- we use PC Anywhere. I would like to try Dameware but not worth the risk right now. Glad to here someone has used it on all of the Apps with no problem. Maybe when we make to move to CP4.0 (2003 Server)
 
pcAnywhere works fine, if there is a probem with it and you cannot connect, your vendor should fix the problem, after all it is there for their convenience and maintenance along with Nortel.

If you load any unauthorized software on the server (damewhere), and you need support, you will need to bring your server back to the standards put out by Nortel in order to get support.

I have seem problems with damewhere and OTM.
 
In the uk nortel ship pc anywhere with the server but this only applies up to rel 2 on a win 2000 base. With rel 3 and a 2003 server pca has a problem and the grb notes recommend the microsoft remote acces is used. This only applies to the 201i and not to anything bigger.

I have used pca for symposiums and callpilots since they first came out with very little problems if the are set up correctly then its ok

PC anywhere is the only supported remote access software. Anything else is going to cause your call pilot to not be supported. I agree that there are many other choices but use them at your own risk. PC anywhere works fine. We use it all the time on many different callpilots on different platforms.
 
We use VNC on Callpilot, OTM, and web messaging server and no issues.
 
In PcAnywhere on the CallPilot. You have to activate that pcanywhere should listen on the ethernet ports as well as the "modem" port.
