Guys, I have no idea what I'm doing with this phone system, but I was told to hook port A and B up to the 35 and 36 ports, respectively. Now, I got the wires coming out of A & B but they have the RJ11 connectors on the other end and have to connect to one of those things mounted on the wall with all the phone lines connected to it, a PBX I think you call it. Anyway, there are 4 each connections for 35 and 36 and 4 wires in the RJ11 cable that I cut the end off of. How do I hook these up? The company that sold us the phone system already programmed the mailboxes and greetings, so I think all I have to do is figure out how to connect the RJ45 to the phone lines. Am I so lost that I'm not even asking the right questions? Other than this one problem, the Compact ICS is working great and so are my phones. Please help and Thanks in advance.

you are right ...what r u doing with the phone system anyways

Well, I bought this system and it was not big deal to set up. I can't believe the voicemail part doesn't just plug in somehow, that's just stupid. Everything else was easy. I have a red, yellow, green, and black wire for port A on the CallPilot and the same for port B on the Callpilot. Of course, on the CallPilot end, they have the RJ11 connector and it plugs in, and I think I only have two connections to use on the STA 35 and STA 36 places on the connection block....

I know, I have no bidness near a phone systems I guess. I wired my whole house with RJ45 no problem but the ends make it kind of a no brainer I guess. If this stupid thing would have only needed cable ends on both sides, I'd be set. Oh well, that's how it goes sometimes.

Take the Red/Green wires for each port on the Call Pilot and punch them down to ports 35 and 36 on the Norstar.

You picked the right name for your handle. Hit the nail right on the head. You need a punch down tool. You should punch down a cross connect to the 25 pair tail coming from the station side of the the KSU on the ports for 35 & 36. Put that cross connect on a RJ-11 jack. Then plug one end of Line cord from A and B to the cross connected jack for your hand off from the system. Hope that helps. Looks like you need it. Seek a professional.

We use sticky back jacks for making the connection simple like you ask. Just take some crosswire and hook up port 35 to the red + green on one sticky jack. Then do the same for port 36 on another sticky jack. Then you just plug in the RJ11 cords.

Thanks, guys. I have 'er all working now. VencomRob, I already figured that part out too. We had an old terminal block with some in there and I yanked em off and plugged it all together nicely. Maybe I need to change my name now;)

Thanks again to all.

It's getting scary out there with everyone wanting to be a phoneman

It's even scarier that everyone can be one with a couple of questions answered, eh?
