I have a CallPilot 100 with Rel 01 software, which is stuck in a funny place.

I am able to start it up, and all of the lights flash as they should.
I am able to connect via serial cable, and I get the following output, which seems to indicate that the unit is up and running. I do not know the login name or password, and so I am stuck at that point.
I am not able to bring up the web interface (IE says 'unable to display') although I did successfully change the IP address, and I can ping the unit.
I am able to establish a telnet session, but I face the same login/password issue as above.
Attempting to reach the unit via a handset results in a "feature inactive" message, regardless of whether I try F981, F983 or F985.

I have tried all of the user/password combinations I could find out there, but none of them worked.

I have connected the unit to an 8x24 DR5, a CICS 6 and a CICS 7. The result is always the same.

What is curious is that at one point in the boot messages, it says " Got KSU Version from functerm:" followed by the KSU version I see if I log into the KSU, which tells me that it is indeed communicating with the KSU.

Looking more closely at the log, I find:

SYS: Access failed to start, system will restart after 120 seconds
SYS: To stop rebooting, enter stopreboot

which looks like a serious error message.

Following that is:

TCM 1: Channel 0: UP
CH0 is opened.
TCM 2: Channel 2: UP
CH2 is opened.

dch: channel 2 Msg Len 99 Update Board to Access

dch: channel 2 Msg Len 99 Update Board to Access
D-channel No. 2 is working
D-channel No. 1 is working

which looks like the unit has come up. Further down, I do get the "Ready" message in a box, but sure enough, after a short while the unit reboots.

1) Is there any way to gain access to the unit as is ?
2) Is there a way to reset the device, given that I cannot access it by any other method than serial cable ?

You have a problem with the 1st port on the CP, probably hardware issue.

Unless the unit is fully up, connected and synced to a KSU, the browser function nor the feature code will work.

Thanks for the reply.

When you say hardware issue, do you mean something functionally wrong with the CP, something functionally wrong with the KSU, or a wiring issue ?

BTW, if I go into Maintenance on the CICS, I see STK1 on the ports where the CP is connected.

I'm not sure how the wiring could be at fault if the CP is able to pull the KSU version.

I have tried this with two different CICS KSUs.

Does this mean that my CP is broken ?

It sounds unlikely but, I have seen those funky, tempermental power supplies do the wierdest things. Do you have a spare you can try?

Thanks for the replies.

The supply I found with the CP was bad, of course. I replaced it with one rated at 12v 2A. It seems to be working fine.

Going into Maintenance on the CICS, I see 'STK1' on each of the ports the VM is punched into. Is that right ?

okay, now using an adapter rated 9v 2A.

same results.

does that Maintenance 'STK1' tell you anything ?

does the rest of the log tell you anything ?

9v and 12v will work for a while but your asking for problems.
Like everyone here says you better get the correct one 8v.

I guess my post above got lost in the rush to debate the power supply.

okay, now using an adapter rated 9v 2A.

same results.

does that Maintenance 'STK1' tell you anything ?

does the rest of the log tell you anything ?

Maintenance seeing STK means something YES. It means the KSU ports see the voicemail connected to them. The question about the log I have no idea what your referring to? What log?

okay, then. if the CP is able to pull the KSU version, and the KSU is seeing the CP on the connected ports, why is the CP not coming fully up and syncing, instead putting out the 'reboot after 120' message ?

what is making allworxguy say that there is a problem with the first port ?

what else can I do to troubleshoot this further ?

here is the complete console output (2 times around):

You're running a very old version.
DSP[0]: 1.50.35.A2 Jun 05, 2002
CallPilot 150 Boot Loader V1.5.19

Bootloader 1.5.19 was flaky.

Upgrade the software to at least 3.0. Anything below that is not compatible with CICS/MICS 7.x

Marv

Upgrading can sometimes clear corruption.

I suggest setting the CP's IP back to default of 10.10.11.1
Unplug any network cable and leave it until F983 is resolved.
If any IP or network issues the CP can do a continual reboot.

Make sure of CP Feature codes using F9*1

And again you are not using the proper power supply.

okay, I'll try the upgrade and see what happens.

Where do I find the boot loader and software upgrades ?
