I have another one. I stumpped the BCM board recently. I have a 1.5 callpilot that needs to be upgrade to 3.1 I cannot connect to the Vmail using the comport and a terminal emulation program (hyper terminal). I know my cable is good but I get absolutely no response from the callPilot, so I cannot upgrade.I have the settings correct in hyper terminal. I found that on Nortels site. Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks

You should still be able to upgrade, you just can't watch the progress. My experience with going from 1.5 to 3.1 is that it can take up to an hour to complete. When F983 works, you're done.

Just to verify, your settings are 9600, 8-N-1, with a straight-through serial cable?

Yes it is a straight through cable. I was thinking of doing that. The customer and myself were a little weary though. I think the only thing that needed to happen was to show when it was complete. I may just do it.

Not sure why you need the terminal emulation to do your upgrade. I just stick the PCMI card from the powered down Call Pilot into my laptop. It comes up like a flash drive & I take the 8 files off of the card.
I go to Nortel's web site & download the latest Version of Call Pilot 150 sofware(Version 31.10.31.22 is the latest).
Put the 8 new files on your blank PCMI card & than stick the card back in the Call Pilot. Power back up & you are good to go. All programming will be there & I have never had one fail. I do this 2 to 3 times a week.

Curly. I wont see anything until I reboot? Does that mean I cant just connect and talk to the CP? That makes sense if that is what you are saying. I will try again on Saturday. I have been doing more BCM's than Norstar in the last couple of years.

To actually "talk" to the Call Pilot you need to connect your PC to the CP ethernet port using a crossover cable. Change your PC's IP address to 192.168.110.11, subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Then launch your Internet browser and enter the CP default IP address 192.168.110.10 in the address bar. You should then be prompted to login.

Dont ask me. When I went to do the upgrade it worked fine. I did only have 20 mailboxes when i was supposed to have 32. Nortel says it is not in the KRS. But I was minus 11 mailboxes and nobody could check messages. I had to buy more keycodes. Terrible thing but at least the upgrade worked for the most part.
