Anyone have experience upgrade the callmanager from 41. To 4.3. I’m planning to do this and I’m not comfortable with just BART for backup, did any of you use any third party product to backup your callmanager server before doing the upgrade? I’m trying to use Arcserve to back it up, any problem with that? Thanks.

This does not work, because of an OS change, from 2000 to 2003, you need to do a reinstall and then set the backup back using BARS.

I see your point, so does BARS backup every config that is relate to callmanager? So when you do your upgrade all you use was BARS? Do you have to setup anything on SQL or does the install from the DVD does it all for you? Do you have to do any config beside install the DVD and up BARS? The reason why I ask about third party backup is incase the install didn't work out I could have something to fall back on. Thanks.

What type of servers do you have? If you got RAID pull drives out before your back up.

make sure you read your upgrade release notes before the upgrade.

I have a HP Server Cisco MCS 7800. We do have RAID and our OS system is Mirror but once I take out drives I don't have extra drive to put in, those drive are costly arn't they? Yea, I been reading the upgrade release note and it is recommended to remove the RAID drive and replace it with another two drive to install the whole new OS along with callmanager. This would be great but could not get the fund to buy it.

First of all those drives are around $300 a piece (tops).
But if it is not in your budget it is not in your budget.

You can do the upgrade without the second set of drives anyway. So just pull the second set of drives and do the upgrade.

cool, thanks. I just got order some hard dirve. I guess it does not matter which drive I pull out and swip the new one in, right? Does it matter if I pull the hard drive out when it is on or off?

The drives are hot swapable so you can pull them off when they are on.
However if you have the luxury of a power down then do it. Take out a set of the RAID drives and power back up. Once the system is back on line add the new drives you purchased and let them duplicate.
