Calling Microsoft Outlook contacts 4

Hello all,

Does Avaya have an interface to allow a user to initiate a call from their contact list in Microsoft Outlook and have it dial out on their phone with just a couple of mouse clicks?

Remove the tapi2 and add it again in your modem options
By the way it works for me too

Works for me in Outlook 2007. I never knew what TAPI was until I read this thread, pretty cool!

What release phone manager and IPO are you guys running?

I don't think Phone Manager is necessary. I installed the TAPI stuff from the 4_2_19 user CD (tapiSetup.exe) and my IPO is 4.2.11.

Tried to use the windows dialer just to check if the tapi works?

In windows go to start > run > then typ "dialer" (without the ") and press enter.

Goto Edit > Options > select Phone, in the top pulldown menu select "IP Office Phone: XXX" click OK.

Now goto "dial" enter exntension and if this works then you must be able to dial from outlook.

I've had trouble using TAPI in a vlan envoiroment when the routing was not implemented properly, just something to consider if you are really stuck.

That has to be the problem. I know we have some other routing issues in our network. I will tackle that first.

Can you ping or traceroute the control unit from the computer you are tyring to setup?

If not, the vlan setup is probably not bridging the networks.

Hmmm... No joy in getting the Avaya TAPI provider to even show up when I try to add a new provider via Control Panel / Phone and Modem Options / Advanced in Vista 64-bit.

It appears to install the driver just fine, I just don't get the option.

Bummer, as this would be a cool thing to have.

You did not tell us you have a 64 bit Vista !!!
Then that is your problem
Vista 64 bit is not supported and does not work !!!
