I have looked and looked thru my short codes and cannot figure this out.

Some background:

ShortCode:
#xx , N , Direct Dial
#49 , N , Dial Extn (This is so that then cannot dial direct me)

I have a extension which is a VoiP phone 49. We are running 4.2.14. The extensions in the office are all 2 digit (10 -> 49).

For some reason, when some people call an extension, it does what seems to be a direct Dial (Without the beep).

They have a 'page/direct dial' short code setup which if you prefix a # in front of the extension then it will call the exten, go "Beep Beep" then be off hook on the speaker.

However, I want whenever they call the extension without the # it just dial the exten and goto voicemail if noone picks up.

This seems to work sometimes but others it will not. Very strange. There are no user shortcodes provisioned.

Any ideas?

Do I need to put in a shortcode that is:

xx , N , Dial Extn

Like I did for my extension to override the ability of them dial direct to me? I thought the default was to 'dial exten' for each of the user extension numbers.

Thanks,

By default the system will match extn numbers first then if no match will look at shortcodes, Run system status and watch some one dial and see what shortcode it is matching.

How can I tell if they have auto-answer on? I do not have any buttons programed for it but I think that is the problem. Some of the phones must be setup for auto-answer internal calls. Is there a way to override all users to turn that off or do I have to program a button on each of the 30+ phones and disable it.

check the source numbers on the users/user rights. FF is auto answer, remove that.

Alternatively, program the button on all phones, go to each, disable, remove button, but option 1 above is easier.

Uggh..I checked a bunch of users and all had no source numbers configured. I looked under user rights and I did not seen anywhere to input source numbers.

I'm hoping to figure out a way to do this without the button as I am not physically at the site but once a month or so.

also some types of phones can have it programmed via the menu on the phone my old 6408 in the garage has it because I am to lazy to pick up the receiver, also the 4400 series has it.
