hmm some strange reason the RCO was set to nothing not sure if that is possible or not but it was :S, I set it to 0 and then it started to work again.

Thanks for your help GHTROUT

Wait a min... as I look up there RCO was already set to 0
and what I did was set that to 1 then back to 0 how would that have fixed the issue?

If phone TN was disabled - any change would have re-enabled it

What tells you that the TN was disabled and what would cause it to get disabled as the phone still received calls it just wouldnt pass off to mermail after 3 rings. I let it ring about 16 times testing it before hanging up with no voicemail picking up.

Thanks for your explinations...

Sorry was confusing with another thread DID getting busy.

RCO points to your Customer data block settings.

But if this is worth anything, databse can get confused. Sometime a dummy change fixes things. I have spent 10 years remotly fixing SL-1s and M-1s. Even with release 24, dummy changes did work some time.

When you change a phone set profile, the PBX does not perform a change but writes a brand new profile on top of its database. When you dump, it only dumps the active data. all these inactive records are ignored. Notice the Pdata / Udata count after you change something. The amount will always keep decreasing after each change. When the PBX reboots, you'll recover it all.

many years ago, some very large enterprise had to schdule reloads to recover protected memory.

A little off subject but I don't know weather to laugh at your DES or be worried for your employes. lol

haha hmmm so again today it dropped the voicemail box off the extension again could it be from adding another phone to the dn with it as key 00 for some reason?

The phone doesnt say that it is forwarding to at the moment and that number listed as the cfw is not getting calls from the people calling in.

With "MARP NOT ACTIVATED" you do not know the "main phone" without knowing ancient Nortel SL1 history.

So, the reason you fixed it the other day is you performed a change, moving the TN up on the DNB list. Then I suspect you made a change to 020 0 02 12, which mmoved it up, and made it the controlling phone.

When MARP is not activated, multiple appearance DNs take their control almost "randomly" (it's not random, but it is hard to explain).

Just make a change to 020 0 14 15 and it should resolve the immediate problem. The real problem is you have to plan to get MARP turned on.

If MARP was never enabled since I got here and I enable it now will that cause massive chaos for all phones in the building?

Can you please explain more to me about this topic there was no change to 020 0 02 12 after I reset that RCO on 20 0 14 15 so coming in today and having to reset any option on 20 0 14 15 tn to make it work with voice mail everyday is kinda strange.

Shouldnt both phone lines since they are both set to key 00 no matter what order they are in make it send to voice mail or both need that MARP on them to make them fuction like that or only one phone can be set to marp per line?

And if I set 020 0 02 12 with MARP on key 00 will that make so my ext on this phone would no longer go to voicemail as well?

So what you are saying is what ever TN is on top of this list below, is what the voicemail box goes to but since 02 12 isnt set to the MARP. Every time I edit something on 2 12 I will have to go in and reset something on 14 15 to make it goto the top of the list again so that the voicemail works again for that ext?

The first thing you have to do before activating MARP is print every DN out (LD 20 REQ PRT TYPE DNB). Then your only concern are those DNs that appear on more than one TN. Any DN that shows more than one TN must be checked to make sure the TN with MARP is the one you want to control the HUNT and FDN moving forward. If you have hundreds of Multiple Appearing DNs, then this is a lot of work. If you only have 20 or so, you can just turn it on and field any complaints.

As for "no change was made to 20-0-2-12", the date on the phone indicates a change WAS made. Even if nothing was performed other than returning through the TN, any action on the TN is considered a change and it will affect the HUNT/FDN.

If you make ALL those TNs the same CLS FNA HTA; HUNT and FDN and RCO, then that could resolve the problem too.

In my opinion, MARP is really important. I've gone though activating it on a lot of systems. It is always worth it.

It is turned on in LD 17; REQ CHG; TYPE PARM; then at MARP, enter YES

Translated from the NTPs into more reality based terms:

How Do Things Work without MARP

If the MARP system option is disabled, DN Hunting proceeds as if MARP did not exist.

If all the TNs holding the DN are digital phones, ringing telephones are placed at the top of the DNB list, and non-ringing telephones are placed at the bottom of the DNB.

If a Multiple Appearance DN appears in a group with several telephone types, the telephone type affects the position of the TN in the list. The analog (500/2500 type) telephones are listed at the top, and Meridian 1 proprietary telephones are listed in numerical TN order at the bottom of the list. A service change to an analog (500/2500 type) telephone moves its TN to the top of the list. A service change to a Meridian 1 proprietary telephone moves it to the bottom of the list. Call redirection follows the TN order from top to bottom.
