Callers get 5-second delay when dialing certain DID numbers

We recently retired some copper "DINC" lines and had the associated DID numbers re-pointed to our main PRI circuits. I've been getting reports that when callers dial these "re-pointed" DID numbers, they get a 5-second delay before the call rings through. The callers are dialing 7-digits (prefix and number only).

I've tested this using a POTS line and found that there is a definite 5-second delay before the line begins ringing. I also found that if I dial the entire 10 digit number, the call is processed immediately. The same is true if I dial 7-digts and hit # after the last number.

Our phone service provider says that this can be solved with some programming changes on our PBX (Avaya S8710, CM 2.2).

I've looked at the trunk group template and can't figure out what field to change. Would anyone be able to steer me in the right direction? Many thanks for your help.

how many digits are the telco sending you,, how many digits in your extensions/dial plan? are you adding treatment to the digits?..
ie. telco sends 4 digits, but your extensions are 5, so the system waits for the last digit,,,,
just a thought..

Hi Zen216,

We're supposed to be receiving 4-digits from our provider. Our dial plan is 4-digits. As for any treatment, are you referring to page (4) of the trunk group template? If so, the answer is yes, but only for three specific numbers. I'm deleting the incoming digits and inserting different digits to re-route to another location. The rest of the incoming lines are not modified.

have you done a trace on the trunk, then call it and see what is happening?
list trace tac xxx (trunk group tac)
then call it from the pots line, and see what is being sent, and how it is routing,,,,

I'll have to wait until Monday morning. I tried and the trunk group is too busy to see my call coming through. I get in at 5am, so not too much going on then.
