hello
I have a merlin magix with a PRI. whenever I make an outbound call out of the pbx the callid that is displayed is always the main number. does anyone know how could I show a different caller id when I call from an especific extension. thanks

The trunks themselves are given data to pass as calling number ID in Magix PRI programming. No matter who uses that channel, the trunk ID associated with it will display on the far end.

Many companies leave this unprogrammed so the called party gets "unknown caller" or "out of area" as CID. Many of those have a block for unidentified callers to prevent telemarketer calls, so I would be wary of removing it altogether.

If you have a PRI and it has AT&T INFO2 ANI or similar service service you can send the extension number (EXTENSION ONLY), the billing number (LINE TELEPHONE NUMBER), or both (BASE NUMBER WITH EXTENSION). You can also assign a specific number to each B-channel.

Is the something I need to set in the Merlin Magix in order to get INFO2 to send CID for each B channel?

The INFO2 is provided by the PRI vendor and is pretty standard. You might want to do a print of the 'PRI Info' to see how the PRI is set up.

To set up your outcalling ANI, go to
Lines/Trunks > PRI > NumbrToSend > (specify type of no.) > Enter > (Dial Base Number) > Enter

This will set it so that the outgoing ANI will be your base number with the extension number substituting the lower digits., i.e. Base Number = 201-555-1234 and Extension number is 5678, number sent is 201-555-5678. Be aware that this applies to **ALL** extension numbers, not just DID numbers, therefore you may be sending out telephone numbers that do not belong to you. This is why many Companys choose to use the 'Line Telephone Number' option and then assign their main telephone number to all the trunks assigned to the PRI.

If you still experience a problem, have your PRI vendor monitor the PRI and verify that they are receiving caller ID info and that they are compliant with the INFO2 protocol. I've only run across one that wasn't, but that doesn't mean there aren't others.
