Here's a good one. I have a customer looking to upgrade to a BCM 400. They currently use a product made by YES Telecom that use a parellel port to send the caller ID to a PC that displays the caller id on the monitor. check it out yes-tele.com

Here's where i need the help. The YES group says if i can pass caller id via serial stream via a smdr port let's say, then they would be able to send the caller id from the d channel of a pri to the monitor just like they did with the copper trunks...

make sense?? any takers??

I don`t really understand ! if you upgrade to a BCM you won`t need such a box caller id is built in, and will be displayed on digital phones

Does Nortel's Personal Call Manager display incoming caller ID?

this caller id is being displayed on multiple computer screens throughout the office. NOT ON THE PHONES. The caller id on the phones is ok, but they perfer to have it remain on the same screens. It's a real time monitor more than just incoming Caller ID.

No SMDR functionality on the BCM unfortunately. Norstar will do it though.

Strange application - never heard of anything like this before.

yeah it's a nice piece of equipment. I should recommend it to more of my customers... I called the guy who engineers them today and that is where i got the streaming advice. He says he is working on a product that will interface with a PRI but it won't be ready till some time after the first of next year.

Is the db9 connection on the front of my machine video only?

RYSFAN,

The Personal Call Manager is a software program that can be used to control the phone from the computer. I don't have any customers that use it but I have been playing with it at my shop with a BCM50. One of the features is it will display a screen pop for incoming calls, additionally there are logs for both incoming and outgoing that can be displayed. The incoming screen pops are real time but the logs need to be manually refreshed. If you are not using the advanced features of yes-tele this may fit your needs.
