I have a carrier that says they can pass caller ID info over a T1 with wink start E&M trunks. I am going to meet them over at the location and turn on DNIS on the trunks. They say they are set up to allow: *DNIS*ANY

Has anybody ever heard of or set this up? The end user has a BCM 50. Thanks~

I've heard of carriers offering "in band signalling" - I think that's what they called it - on E&M T-1's that pass CLID info, but haven't yet run into a BCM customer that has that offered to them. I'd be curious to see what you come up with.

Look under Line programming I believe there is a Prombt there that says ANI Number Y or N. Change that to Yes.

Here is the deal. The carrier is passing in band signalling and last week we tried to turn the ANI on the trunks to yes. That made the trunks unaccessable. Today we confirmed that they had the signalling off. Once they turned it on, and we set ANI to yes.....it worked. Caller ID over E&M wink start trunks.

BCMPIMP,

Who's the carrier?

Just a data guy with a little knowledge, programming PBX for fun...

bcmpimp,

I have had success doing this as well, however, what about OUTBOUND calling? How did you make your BCM pass ANI over the T1 circuit so that YOUR callerID could be displayed to the remote endpoint? I did not see a way for the BCM to do this.

THanks,
Harold

Blotnik- how about setting up the OLI on the set to send out the digits that you want. Have you looked at what the CO is sending?

Mad006- The carrier is LOGIX here in Houston, Texas. I was not impressed until now...

I don't think the Nortel products will allow user-configurable OLI on a 't1'. Also, you're not really getting CallerID, you're getting Calling Party Number Transmitted as ANI. You will never get name, either, unless you convert to PRI.
