I have an issue where if a user is on line 1 and a call comes in on line two the caller ID of the second line caller only flashes on the display for a few seconds. Is there a way to make this second line caller ID stay on the display longer?

Really that setting is not programmable at all....

Yes, the non configurable CLID option, one difference between the BCM and a larger Meridian 1/CS1000 PBX......that I never was happy with.

While we are on the subject:

I am also disappointed in a few other disadvantages of the BCM when it comes to 2nd Incoming calls:
-Lack of a choice of alerting on a second call, especially for a Call Center application
could have been solved by allowing users to choose:
-call waiting buzz tone
-standard lower ringing
-no ring at all
CLID only shows Name or Number, would be nice to have the option of both....
CLID only appears for a few seconds.

This is taken care of on the IP sets on IP Office because the phones are set in SIP mode, but on the other hand a lot of great Nortel features are gone, go figure.

I believe that the new E-MetroTel system took care of the CLID issue that Nortel never did. They provide name and number display...Why the Norstar's didn't offer that by say release 2.0 is beyond me, the phones have 2 line displays so why not?

Jeremy,

You are so correct! I am testing an Emetrotel UCx50 at my home lab with Nortel 11xx, 12xx and Meridian T and M business sets and actually a Cisco 7970 and Avaya 9630 sets. I also have 2 11xx SIP sets. To add to that, I still have my trusty BCM with 2 phones still attached to it, lol. Guess which 2 phones are really out of place on this Nortel engineered system?

So The Caller ID setup on the UCx is quite awesome. You can program it to match CS1000, with prompts before the actual CLID comes out....say you want to read what Ring Group or Queue the call is coming in on, you can simply place an item in the CLID prompt and a message such as RG400:3125555555 will read out, etc.

I sent you a line to your site, hope we can talk offline sometime.

Joe
