Hi,

We have numerous Norstar 8X24 and 0X32s that we collect CDR on, but do not get caller in in the data. The 8X24s are running DR5.0 and the 0X32s are on 4.1, (I'm guessing on the 0X32). It is as simple as adding a caller is trunk card and telling telco to supply CID on the line, and it will appear in the CDR output stream?

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

On the 8x24, you will need to purchase a M8 Caller ID Module. On the MICS 0x32, you will need CLID cards.

And, yes, you will need to subscribe to Caller ID services for each line you wish to have reporting. D. McCall

Hello,

Can you help me setup my caller id?
I have an 8x24.
I have just purchased a caller id card and m12x8 cabinet. I have installed the card and cabinet, and connected the copper wire between the two cabinets. I subscribed with my telephone company for caller id on all lines. I cannot see caller id info on any set. Any help appreciated.

CLID Info
On a MICS only one phone per line will show the caller ID information automatically. The other phones will need to press feature 811 to see the info. On a CICS you can set it for all phones. Nortel is going to fix this disparity in the new MICS 6.0 software due out soon.
On the MICS, caller ID is programmed in LINES>Trunk/Line data> type is loop, and CLID set: xxx where xxx is the set you want the caller ID to come up on for inbound calls. You can make the caller ID show up on more than one phone by using a hunt group - and assign all the phones you want the caller ID to show up on (or you can use feature 811 while the call rings).

UPDATED THANKS TO MROBERTS!!

You will NOT get automatic caller ID information on the second call to a phone. If the phone is in use the next call that comes in will NOT show the caller ID information without pressing F811 and the ringing line appearance.

Good Luck!!

Yes but the question was for an 8X24, not an MICS.... ;-)

Thanks Again, I better read completly before I Post.

Good Luck!!

I must be missing something, and I am really frustrated.

To reiterate in case I forgot something. The system is a norstar 8x24. I have a second chassis, a m12x8 cabinet. In the m12x8 cabinet I have a norstar caller id card. From one cabinet to the other I have the small copper plug-in wire connecting the chassis.

It seems like my system doesn't recognize the card. I followed all of the programming instructions, but when I call into the system nothing shows up on any phones. I tested the lines and there is Caller ID service coming through from the telephone company. When I press function 811 during an incoming call it asks me to select a line. When I press the line, it gives me the line number, but not the caller id info.

I have the lines labeled 7104, 6454, ... yada yada.

Is it in the programming? Is it in the hardware configuration? Is it the way I have wired the system? I am so lost now. Got the whole system installed and programmed without issue, now I am stuck with this. One last note, The 25pin centronics connector is connected to the 8x24, not to the remote chassis... this is correct right? How does the Caller ID info make it from one cabinet to the other?... through the smaller plug type copper cable?

All your help is greatly appreciated.
Rob

Okay, you followed my instructions above, yes? You set ONE phone to be the caller ID phone per line, yes?

The lines themselves are doing okay right? You can call into lines 009 - 012 right? Those are the line numbers? On the card itself which should be installed in the first slot all the way to the left in the Trunk Module (12X0)it should say CI right on the spine of the card.

You should have an amphenol cable connected from the 12X0 trunk module to it's own block where your lines from the mod will punch down on it.
Line 009 should be punch on the White / Blue pair of that block.
Line 010 should be on the White/ Orange pair
Line 011 should be on the White/ Slate pair
Line 012 should be on the Red/ Blue pair.

The copper DS 30 cable going from the 12X0 to the expansion card in the main KSU should be in the very top port of that card. Is it?

If so then go back into programming:

Hey just a thought here...
Because the KSU is an 8X24 ... is there any possibility that it needs the C8 module before it reads the CLID cards in the expansion modules.... or again because it is an 8X24 will it need the original CII cards to operate? Perhaps the newer ICS CLID cards won't work backwards. Also is the KSU DR 5.X? Perhaps the DR version is really old....

uhmmm, no you don't have to have the C8 to have the trunk mod cards recognize themselves as CI. It is a DR5 so .... Only other thing I can think of is that he doesn't have a CII on the first 8 lines and isn't testing with lines 9-12. MRoberts

MR,
Sorry for long answer delay... but the first 8 lines in a Modular KSU will require the C8 module. You're right about the CII cards in the trunk module not needing the C8 Module to recognise themselves... but I was thinking that the KSU may need the C8 to recognise the CII cards in the expansion module.

Executone,

Try changing the DS 30 Copper cable.... reseating it etc... also try moving the CO trunks around in the CO module. By the way what DR release are you dealing with?

Rgds all,
PhM
