I followed the programming on the managers phone and entered code 406 enabled all the CIDs, but still no caller id.....what gives is the card not installed? is there a solution besides installing the card? End User is using Comcast Business for phone, is there a way to enable the caller id data from the service? Im a little lost first time phone programming.

No....if the system doesn't already have a caller ID card you have to install one or more before the feature will work. Each card provides for caller ID on 4 lines. Since the main cabinet supports 8 lines without any expansion modules installed, there are 2 slots on the motherboard. The lower slot is for lines 1-4 and the upper one is 4-8. Slot for lines 8-12 is located inside the expansion module mounted to front of cabinet if system is equipped with one.

Only way to tell if the card is already installed is to open up the main cabinet/expansion module. But if you've ordered the feature from the CO and configured it in 406 I'm guessing the card(s) just aren't installed.

Thanks a bunch, I figured as much based upon what i was reading, now any ideas on how to get those cards cheaply, or can you recommend a comparable phone system with the caller id function already installed. Please take into consideration that the end user is not comfortable paying more than $200 (LOL) but anyways that is neither here no there... any software suggestions or heck any suggestions at all. Caller ID for Panasonic systems has always been on a removable daughter card. Many of the past (and all current) systems come from the factory with the cards pre-installed, but none of them really have built-in caller ID. Most of the systems you'll find on the used market have had the cards removed and sold separately, as in many cases the cards alone are worth as much or more than the system itself.

There's no way to make the system have caller ID without installing the card. The only workaround I can think of (and it's really not a good one) is to wire a consumer-grade standalone caller ID unit ahead of the system. This would require significant changes to the customer's wiring and would surely exceed their small budget.

I'd have to double check to be sure, but I've got quite a stockpile of used stuff I've taken on trade-ins and may have one of the 1232 cards and/or a couple of other KSUs with the cards installed. I also know of another place that stocks them regularly....don't think pricing/vendor information is allowed on the open forum but feel free to send me a PM if interested.
