Caller ID - Number to name

This was asked before by another member, however there were no replies.

"Is there anyway in CM that I can make a database of number to name translations so that I can get a name to show up on the phones instead of just numbers?"

We receive external CID info (name and number) but often the name is not descriptive enough.

The name and mumber is provided by the TELCO and not the call manager.
 
I think you've misunderstood the question - I was reading it that bodkin was receiving the CLI for external incoming calls, and wondered if there was some kind of lookup table in CM that would check the incoming CLI and if it was a known one it would display the name on the phone rather than the CLI.

Anyone know whether this is possible ?
 
AuditSimon is correct in interpreting what I am hoping to accomplish. I would like to modify the CLI from the TELCO so a more familiar name is presented to our employees instead of the name currently displayed.
 
Is this for a specific number or for every number in the North American Dial plan?
If it is just for your customer database, IPCC can do that with a script that does a database dip into your database and presents that call with that info.
 
Is there no third party application?

We would love to implement something like this as well.
