Could someone clarify before we buy,
We are trying to achieve caller ID on our phone sets,
using COT lines to a Universal Trunk Card, I understand its not possible unless we get a PRI from our provider, which we do not want to pay the price as we are not in need of it for our size (I do get Caller ID now on regular phone sets not using the PBX)I have read that a CLASS MODEM Card NT5D60 may be our solution.
We have found one for 300$ (used) before we buy..
Is this our only option?
What needs to be done, installation wise,LD to be programmed etc.

thanks

The CLASS modem card does not provide CLID for external calls. It is used to provide CLID to analog phones connected to the PBX but doesn't do anything for trunks. You will still need a PRI for to get CLID from the outside world.

Thanks very much for clarifying for me..

I would assume that SIP trunking now provides a second method (besides ISDN PRI) for external caller CLID.

I am up to trying anything, please explain.
We are willing to buy a Card or addon etc, 1 time cost, anything to get Caller ID. Within reason..
(my provider wants almost 500$ a month for a PRI we spend 80-150$ a month max on our current phone bill)
We have DIGITAL 3903 phone sets no analog.

thanks

You cannot get CLID on an incoming analog trunk (loop start or ground start) on a Meridian 1 / CS 1000. The hardware/software physically does not support it.

And remember, you can't just install a CLASS card and expect caller ID on your analog sets. You will have to convert or purchase CLASS ISM's.

If you decide to convert, from analog to CLASS you will need to make sure that you add the CLASS prompts in the CLS of the analog sets or....after you change the keycodes file you will begin to see what it looks like when the Nortel starts to mass delete your analog lines.....kinda sounds like I've see this before huh?

but you can add the CLASS options in the CLS without them being Class phones with no problems.

Hope this helps.
