Hello all, we have two offices. Both offices run IP Office 5. The second office runs IPO 5v2. At the second office incoming caller ID does not show up on the incoming numbers. If I dial the main office, and then transfer from there to the second office then caller ID comes up. Our IT company states that as soon as a firmware upgrade is done that caller ID, and our dial by name directory will work. Has this been the case for other folks? Or could the issue be elsewhere?

IS CLIP turned on from the Network provider?

According to the line provider caller ID is turned on for the lines coming into the second office. Whenever the system from here transfer the call to the extensions for the second office caller ID comes up. I assumed it was because it was pulling the caller ID information off of office #1's line since it was a transfer. But I'm not 100% sure.

What type of lines?
Who is the provider?

Also do the IT company actually know what they are doing with the system? As CLI wouldn't normally effect Dial by name in any way :)

The IT company took over the phone duties from another IT company. Hotwire owns the numbers at location #2. It's a T1 line that comes in. I was working with them to resolve this issue, but the IT company told me that it has nothing to do with the line. It's a firmware issue between locations 1 and 2. A firmware update will supposedly fix all this including the dial by name directory not working. But I have some doubts as to all this.

There is only one major release of seperation allowed for SCN to work correctly if that's what they mean, what software level is each system at?

On the main office: version 5.0 (26)
On the second office: version 6.1(5)

If you are using a CAS DS1 on one of the IPOs, you won't get CID, unless the lines are muxed to analogue first. There is NO standard for CAS DS1 to provide CID on direct DS1 termination to any phone system. The only way you get CID on a high capacity connection is PRIMARY ISDN service.

So from the info you have provided, you need to have your provider change the service on the DS1(T1) from CAS to PRI ISDN, and reprogram the IPO for PRI.

So you have a PRI with NI2 protocol, you should be getting all the CID info. Have you monitored the traffic on the PRI to see what is being sent? If not, you should do that, and if the info is missing open a trouble ticket with the service provider to get the CID fixed. CID is part of all ISDN service, not something extra. If the provider is charging extra, I would find another provider!

Tell that to BT :)

How the heck do you monitor the PRI? Sorry, I'm a complete noob at this. I did go into the system monitor and tried some test calls to see how they come up. Is that what you mean?

I am glad BT does not do service in the USA!

"There's an APP for that!" You can download the System Status Application document for free from support.avaya.com among other documents for the IPO.

Happy reading!

Thanks for the replies. It turned out to be a telco issue for the caller ID not showing up. Now I just need to fix the dial by name directory. Any ideas?

I am guessing your using VM pro . Are the users names recorded???
Do you have a Dial by name module set up?

Yes, VM Pro. The users recorded their names, and I believe the Dial by Name is setup correctly. It looks similar to the one as office #1 and they're dial by name works fine.
