I have an NEC 2000 IPS phone system that we have installed in the last year. We recently decided to add some Caller-ID capabilites to our phone lines. We can't quite get the phones to co-operate now. We have gon through our certified reseller and now some work some don't but we do not want to keep having to pay for his "expertise". We also have some people setup to login on ACD groups so they have what we are calling ACD phones - basically the difference seems to be the second line displays VACANT rather than the date and time.

Anyway this is sort of a multi-part question:
1. Does it have to display VACANT or can it display the date and time and still remain an ACD phone.
2. When a call comes in the first line displays DDD and then some 4 digit number. For the phones where caller-id is kind of working the second line will change from the date and time to the number calling(unformatted) and then we have re-assigned the recall button to change to the name display. Can the first line not display something useful like the name or the number and the 2nd line display the other?
3. This also seems to apply to voicemail. At the beginning of each VM the lady says call from 010 or some such number... Seems like she could also say something useful.

Thanks for any help in advance. I am pulling my hair out trying to read and understand all the NEC manuals.

Where you want to look for problems 1+2 is features and spec book under talley codes. The first thing you need is a tally button on the agents phone (F1039). To get the display back to time and day, press tally dial 009#. To display the connection, press tally dial 021-6-5-8-5-4-5-# This will display caller ID(6).Number of seconds to display(5). Show split name(8).Number of seconds(5). Show time in queue(4).Number if secends(5). End (#) As for question 3, What kind of Vmail?

Thanks MUCHO!

the 009# tally worked. How long does it last? How long will the other last(just while logged in)?

VoiceMail: Captaris CallXpress.

And, i take it that the number across the first line of the display has to stay and cannot be replaced with callerID info?

I believe OAI from CCWX displays on one line. You can manipulate this using Tally 021#. Also On Line Help is available using Tally 022#. You can also use a "0" for the time in seconds, and the display will stay for the duration of the call.I am not familure with your voice mail, but I hope this helps!

Do you hear the recording in voicemail when you try to leave a message or when trying to retrieve messages?

When retrieving. The docs for the VMail say the voice should be saying caller id info, so this makes me think that this is the info the NEC 2000 is sending.

Is there a mailbox built in the CallXpress for 010? If so, check out the secondary extensions tied to the mailbox.

And is this happening for every extension's mailbox or just the ACD Group's?

There is a mailbox at 010. There is also a mailbox at 000. Now after reviewing the VoiceMails these are the only 2 numbers that ever come up. These 2 mailboxes are the assigned call processors. 000 handles the calls during the day(press 0 for operator or dial your party's extension) 010 is for night calls when no operator is present. I did not see any secondary mailbox option within the call processor(s).

This is for every hard extension - We do not have vmail for the ACD extensions.

Most likely a CallXpress issue since I would bet that 000 and 010 are not built in the 2000 as extensions. The only thing I can think of is to check the toggles for the CPs. Sounds like the CallXpress is adding an intro before leaving the message.

If you are looking for caller ID on the PBX line and not just the ACD line you must assign CM 411>11>01.
This is available for NEAX IVS2 D1 8.11 software and higher which of course covers all IPS versions.
