Please help. We have a partnerII R3 system with partner mail vs. We have one users who wants a personal line. We have progammed this and everything works, but when he's on a call and another call comes in it gets a busy signal. The voice mail doesn't pickup.

If I understand he has a line that comes directly to his extension(DIL) but when he is on it and someone else dials that number they get a busy signal ?

if so thats a telco issue you either need to add telco VM to the line or put it in a hunt group and give him two direct lines .

in this case the partner mail cant pcik up as the busy is returned by the CO

Thanks so much, this info is helpful. The line is already assigned to hunt group 7 for the vm. The manual I have says you can program line to only one hunt group. Does this mean other than the vm? I really though I could somehow program the system to transfer to vm on busy without the need for another line.

the second call never reach's the partner system ,the telco returns the busy signal at the Central Office

ussually in a case like this telco voicemail on that particular line is the best soultion

This is a common question the users have. In order for a caller to reach voicemail, they need a path to it. If the only path is the private line and it is being used then they will get a busy signal. You could set up a hunt group where you would need to purchase more lines from the provider or get voicemail from the provider or you could get call waiting from the provider. (JUST LIKE YOUR HOME PHONE)

First step, remove the extension from hunt group 7. The only extensions that should be placed in Hunt Group 7 are your VM ports (vary by VM type). Having any other extnsions in this group will lead to problems.....

The line is already assigned to hunt group 7 for the vm.

its the line thats assigned to hunt group 7 , (as it should be ) not the extension

If your customer wants to be able to handle two or more calls on a single private line - he has two choices - as already outlined above. #1. He can buy an additional line or two and make them part of a circular hunt group along with his existing private line thru his Telco provider. Those extra hunt lines can then be added to the Partner system - so his additional calls get Partner Voice Mail coverage. OR #2. He can get voicemail service from the Telco for his single private line - so when he is on it - the call would go to voicemail at the Telco central office. Call waiting could be a third option - but if he ignores the signal or fails to hear it - the caller can only hang up - there would be no "busy" signal. The cost of one extra hunt line vs. the cost of Telco voicemail coverage is pretty much the same - so he needs to decide whether he wants his voicemail in one place (the Partner) or split between two voicemail systems.
