I know I can add call waiting on an analog phone, but can I do this with a 2008? I tried adding cls cwa and cls swa but it would not work. What am I doing wrong?

Call Waiting notifies a telephone user on an established call (internal or external) that an external call is waiting to be answered. Meridian 1 proprietary telephones must have a Call Waiting key/lamp pair assigned and a Class of Service that allows a warning tone. Call Waiting is applicable to the Prime DN or any single appearance DN on the telephone. When an external call comes into a Meridian 1 proprietary telephone and the telephone user is on a call, the Call Waiting lamp flashes and a buzz sounds
through the telephone’s speaker.

To use Call Waiting, analog (500/2500 type) telephones must have a Class of Service that allows Call Waiting and a warning tone. Two tone bursts are received through the handset to advise an analog (500/2500 type) telephone user of a waiting call. Note that the two calls cannot be
conferenced together.

TN Terminal number
l s c u Format for Large System and CS 1000E system,
where l = loop, s = shelf, c = card, u = unit.
c u Format for Small System and Media Gateway 1000B where
c = card and u = unit.
CLS (CWD) CWA (Deny) allow Call Waiting.
(SWD) SWA (Deny) allow internal Call Waiting
(WTA) WTD (Allow) deny warning tone.

To answer a Call Waiting call on analog (500/2500 type) telephones, follow these steps:

• Flash the switchhook when you hear a beep during a telephone call. Your current call is on Hold and you are connected to the waiting call.

To return to your first call:
• Flash the switchhook.

On a 2008 it will be a key feature.

key xx CWT

cls should be HTD

Thats because yon need a Call Waiting key, so you might just as will make a Key with a NON-DID number and add HTA to Cls and a FDN to the new DN.

But if you want a better answer it would help if you posted a copy of the TNB for that phone for us to see.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Sorry did not read that right. On a digital set you add another key. You have to have HTA in the class of service and LHK should be the last key you need to hunt to. Most of the time it is 1.

CLS = HTA
HUNT is either 000 or another DN you want the call to go to such as voicemail if all lines are busy. 000 keeps the call on that set and the 3rd caller will hear a busy if all lines are busy.

Key 0 scr 4xxx
Key 1 scr 5xxx

Above DNs are just an example. You can not have a feature key between DNs like transfer or conference etc.

tnphoneman: your first answer was also correct, but I don't think anyone uses that way any more. I haven't used it in over 20 years.

It is just like taking a Nortel certification test here. Read twice or 3 times then answer.
