Hi,

Is it possible on an IPO to program a particular ext, not to be able to speak for more than a predefined time amount (ex. 2 minutes), meaning that past this time limit the call will be automatically disconnected.

Look at the shortcodes section of the manual. You will find a entry their for the t character.

I'll let you decide where to put it and how to use it.

we do this on paging all the time. so users cant leave the paging off hook.

Yep, then the time is set to 1 minute
Or to a vmpro module with the text: if you do not pay then you can not call, your call is forwarded to your BP now !

ha ha, i remember discussing this ages ago. dial in and route all outbound calls to the accounts dept!

Never argue with an idiot. bystanders won't be able to tell the difference.
 
Would the t shortcode work for call intrude?

I need to restrict the amount of time a user can intrude on another call.

From the help files:

Example: Maximum Call Length
The character t can be used in dialing short codes to set the maximum allowed duration of a call. For example, the following short code will dial a number but then disconnect the call after 20 minutes (plus or minus a minute).

· Short Code: 9N

· Telephone Number: Nt(20)

My other option was to restrict the number of users intruding at one time but i have been told that is not possible also as it is a conference feature.
 
User Rights are often rather buggy, setting DND buttons for example often means they don't work, I prefer to copy values from user rights instead, it also makes your config more granular for future tweaking :)

User rights is for lazy programmers
The not working user rights is a joke from Avaya to keep the programmers sharp and awake :)

You can still programme the User Rights as you want it, but instead of applying user rights to the users you copy user right values, it tends to work fine then. I hate all the padlocks that come on the screen, makes later changes a ball ache :)

Then i have news for you

I programmed a 4.2.14 system with the right manager
Opened the config with the 5.0 manager and all the locks where gone but i could not add buttons to the user and also not in the user rights

And yes i am lazy but it keeps me sharp :)
