We have an IPOffice 403 with Voicemail Pro. I want to route a call based on the DID #. In VMP I used the "CLI Routing" action and entered the telephone number(s)to the "Specific" Tab. During my test this worked great. Is this the way to do this? Are there limitations? At some point I can see this growing to a few hundred numbers over time and I realize if we get a lot of numbers (i.e. 1000's) we'll have to move this function to a database.

I would like to know the pro's and con's of this.

Thanks
Mike

You could also build an incoming call route in the IP Office itself instead of using the VMPro to route the call. An advantage I could see of this would be you're not taking a VM port to route the call based on the DID#. As for the limitations I'm not sure off hand what they would be.

How would you build the incoming call route in IP Office?

In Manager, underneath "Incoming call route" you would add a new route and have it set on the "incoming number" as the DID which is being passed to you from the CO, then on the Destination, select where you want the call routed to.

Thanks for your tip bwilch. I played around with that and my test worked well except when I changed the congiuration in VM Pro to go to another location, it wouldn't change no matter how many times I saved and exited the program. Have you expericed this before?

Are there limitations to using the call routing table?

I also found that if the a caller calls the designated number in the route table and the callers number is not added to the table, the caller hears a cut off tone. Is there a way that to route those calls to another hunt group if they call that number?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks
