I am attempting to create a new call pickup group and I am getting the following error:

REQ new
TYPE grp
CUST 0
GRNO 1
GRPC
STOR 0 2737
SCH231

I don't find sch231 in the manual...sch0231 says Directory number does not exist. 2737 is my dn so I know it does

I should explain what I am attempting to accomplish overall and maybe someone will have a better way. I have an Option 11 running 4.5 and what my intension are is to create this ring group and set all the phones in to cls aaa. Then I will create a ffc to call the group so when a person in the office calls the group all the phones auto answer and have speech path. I am open to suggestions =-)

Sorry for the long delay in between replies. I thought the problem I was trying to fix with this had fizzled out but apparently not. So yes I am attempting to build this in ld 18 and it doesn’t seem to matter what dn I use to try and add to the group. Every error gives me a sch231 error. (See below):

>ld 18
SCL000
MEM AVAIL: (U/P): 2540559 USED U P: 525788 46612 TOT: 3112959

It's not documented as part of Group List (and I don't know that it is), but go to LD 22 and REQ PRT; TYPE PARM. See what the MSCL is set at.

Go to LD17 and REQ CHG, TYPE PARM - at MSCL, increase it by 10, then test to see if you can add the GRP list.

No dice...same error

Maybe LD20 print out all TYPE GRP and see if there are already some lists built. It might lead you somewhere. Small systems have a smaller maximum number of GRP lists.

There are none existing. Just the group 0 with no members. I just tried outing it and building the group again after the MSCL change and same error sch231 both on my option 61 and 11....Thanks for the suggestions! I have a mantainance contract on this switch and it sounds to me like something is broken. I should be able to call and get them to fix it free of charge if that is the case.

Things to ponder:

Group call cannot dial a CDP steering code, or anything that is not in the same PBX as the list.

If your DN appears more than 6 times (on 6 phones in a small system); or 20 times (on 20 phones in a large system), I think Group Call will think the list is already over the size limit. Try adding a DN that only appears one time, on one phone.

If this is happening in two different PBXs, then its probably not the PBX that is broken.

On the 61 dn I am attempting to add is my own dn and it exists only on my tn. On the 11 I double verified that the dn only exists on one tn as well. It is the k0 dn I am attempting to add and just to make sure I just attempted to add the roll over as well. I have 4 option 11's and it is going like this on all of them. So just for full disclosure what I am doing is:

ld 18
new
grp
cust 0
grno 0
grpc no
stor 0 2737 (on the 61 this is my dn)
it retuns sch231

I ld 20 prt grp to start with and verified that none exist (sch0455)

same procedure on the 11's with dn that exist local to their system and same result. Is there something that needs to be turned on to allow the grp? I really appreciate all of your help!

Hmmm. Make sure your terminal emulation is VT100 ; your Keyboard type is VT100, set CAPS LOCK, and use the number keys above the QWERTY section of the keyboard.

It's to the point that anything goes :)

I am using OTM to login and manage the switches. I can try and program it at the terminal.

Anyways, back to your desire to use Auto Answer. You have to give yourself and all the members a new non-DID KEY 00 (preferable 5 or more digits long). Then you make the group using those DNs. You can set AAA in the CLS and KEY 00 will Auto Answer, but your own DN 2737 won't auto answer cause it isn't KEY 00.

You will have to consider CLID, because you will find yourself making calls on the KEY 00 all the time. If you are on a call, you will not get the Group Call (it does not HUNT or FDN)

I can't believe it but programming it at the terminal works. What would the system be seeing differently out of the otm programming. It must be adding a character or something weird.

Gene - If one of the sets in his group is on a call when he initiates the group call will it fail for all of the sets or just skip over that one?

Thanks,

Joel

The call will not fail. The Group Call will ring all available DNs. A DN that is not available is just skipped over.

Note that Group Call does not HUNT or FDN
