We are a small automobile dealership that is looking at recording all incoming and outgoing calls (not internal) and have gotten some bids from a company that uses port mirroring and will sell us a server for the software to run on as we do not even have our own server at this time except for one that has our dms software on it and we cannot install anything else on it.

What I am having trouble with at this point is how to create a recorded announcement to play for all inbound calls announcing the call will be recorded. Also, how do we handle outbound calls in that regard as well?

Do you think we would be better off going ahead and getting our own server and buying Voicemail Pro at this point and would it do everything above? We don't really need it at this time for anything else that it offers but you never know what tomorrow holds.

We have an Avaya IP Office V2 on 8.1 (69) firmware and are using a Dell PowerConnect 6248P switch. This is what our local telephone guy told one of the vendors about our setup "The PRI to the IP Office is connected to an RJ45 Copper T1 port on the OCCAM ONT (Optical Network Terminator), the ONT is fed from Fiber to our concentrator serving that area."

We have about 50 users but some of those we wouldn't want to record, such as the owners and top-level management.

I haven't even priced the Voicemail Pro, we bought our phone system from our local telephone coop (very small) and they really know nothing about anything other than the base setup so I am not even sure who to call that could price it for me.

Any help, suggestions or ideas is greatly appreciated in advance!

Have you considered Xima Chronicall?
You can get a VTRX adapter which sits inline with your telephone line for recording. Yes you'll need a computer, but you just need a win 7 machine with space to drop the recordings.
Xima is based in Utah which is your neck of the woods.
In your area, there's a guy in Arizona who is very active here on TT, which is also your neck of the woods.

Try this guy who is very cluey.

It doesn't get much worse.

I looked at the xima site, it does say that it needs voicemail pro to do call recordings or does this vtrx adapter allow you to record without voicemail pro?

yeah, I just talked to them and am getting a quote, thanks so much for the tip!

Haha I'm cluey.

Didn't realise it was Aussie slang.
We talk so much slang it's pretty much grunting and whistles.

It's meant in the context of 'A person who is clever, mentally quick and original.'
Syn. with 'switched on' 'knows the score'

It implies one as a decent fellow who not only has some intelligence on the subject matter at hand but also one who has the wherewithal to approach a problem from a lateral perspective to obtain an original resolution by a method not originally expected.

It doesn't get much worse.

Hah no, it's cool, I figured as much. I've been called *many* things, just never cluey. :)
