I accessed the call pilot to change the IP address, I changed the IP to match our network and clicked submit. It said to power down and I did. The CP showed 4 solid green lights for a few secends and then all I get is the 4 indicator lights will blink about every minute or so. It doesn't compltely boot up.

Any suggestions?

How long did u wait? It takes little while for it to go thru the full startup sequence.

I left and came back an hour later. Still doing the same thing.

try another reboot? Have u tested the digital ports the CP is connected to?

I did try a second reboot. Would I just plug in a 7310 to the RJ11 port that the call pilot plugs in to for the test?

Yes connect a phone to the ports that CP connects to on your KSU. Also verify the s/w flash card is seated properly. If still no luck, u could have a defective power supply. I've encountered this where the LEDs appear to be flashing but the LEDs aren't as bright. Once the pwr supply adapter was replaced all was good.

The call pilot uses DN ports off of the Phone system.
So yeah hang a phone off of one of the ports. Or try a different dn (set) number.

The Call pilot needs the session link light on and at least one of the tcm ports linked to the phone switch.

Can you ping the call pilot IP from your lan side?
If all else fails you can do the serial interface and check out whats going on. EG. Change the IP to default.

issuetracker, I can tell you from past experience some CP's come back up fairly quick and others seem like they took forever where I had to perform numerious reboots and wait which at the time seemed forever... If you have tried some of the above requests such as pluging a digital set into the RJ 11's from CP and the set booted up then it's safe to say that your working with good ports etc. Have to verified to see if the KSU can see the CP through Maintenance that's another thing to check out but I can tell you that CP's are notorious for power supplies going bad I know that I've replaced at least 10 in the past year I don't know what the deal is with those but that's looking like it could very well be your problem after I came across so many bad ones I always try to carry a few spares on my van just to be on the safe side so if this ends up being the issue you may want to order yourself a few spares to just be on the safe side in the future. Another thing next time you do a reboot pwr down the CP and the KSU and then bring them both back up sometimes you have to reboot both for the CP to come back up...GOOD LUCK...lets us know if your making any headway.

Update:

I tried a phone in the RJ11 ports that supply the CP and they work fine.
I pulled the compact flash and reseated the software card.
I checked the existing power supply and it's putting out 9.12 volts. I tried another power supply from another unit we have that is working fine.
I tried booting the KSU and CP at the same time.
All produced the same results, still doing the same thing.

Any other suggestions?

Hook up a laptop via Procomm or Hypertem and capture the boot sequence (1200-8-1-N, if I remember right). We need to find out what the failure is by where the boot sequence fails. Th boot loader failed in early releases. Also there was a run of failing pcmcia cards awhile back. Fairly early in the boot sequence, the 2 pcmcia slots show up. If they both show empty, it doesn't see the card. The boot loader failed just after the CP went to query the KSU version, about 1.5 minutes failed, then started over. I think there was also a d-channel build issue in there somewhere. Post the results. Also, what s/w version is your CP. As others have mentioned on this great forum, the new CP power supplies come in at 8 volts by Nortel specs and are better than the 9v oldies.

If I hook up my laptop to the CP using a serial cable then open a session of Hyperterminal and make the changes, when I start the reboot of the CP I will be able to to see what is happening?

There are 2 pcmcia slots, shoud I try the card in the top slot to see if that makes a difference?

No the card is meant for the bottom slot. Well u've tried everything but replace the CP. Replacement may be your next option unless some has another idea.

Yes, you will be able to watch the boot sequence via 9-pin and Hyperterm. That will be the ticket; where is the failure? You could replace the whole unit, but if it's a pcmcia card or a patch to the boot loader, I would be in favor of saving $1000 myself.

I went back to the office tonight and connected through Hyperterminal, it showed the new IP address that I had entered on Saturday which was correct.

It showed an exception 1000 at the bottom of the screen and then it kept repeating the same items.

I entered "M" to modify the screen and I changed the IP address back to default IP and changed nothing else. Entered "C" to continue and the Callpilot continued and finished the boot up.

Finally it's back up and running.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
