I'm trying to implement a series of information messages that we recorded on a PC using a Sennhauser MIC with windscreen and Sonic Foundry recording software. When I playback the WAV file on the PC, it sounds perfect. When I import it into App Builder and listen via telset, we hear minor pops and sweeps background noise.

I'm recording at 16 bit Mono - which according to my CP books should be fine. The 8 bit recordings we worse.

We tried recording via telset directly and get cut off by the system after 1 min.

Has anyone else had any problems like this? Thoughts? Ideas?

What do you use to record your CP recordings?

i haven't had that problem, but i've only downloaded wav file as opposed to doing a record..in windows under programs/accessories/entertainment is a free sound recorder... it's free and you get what you pay for but i have used that to record intercept msgs and a few other rans without a problem

If I remember correctly, you can extend the recording time by going to Messaging, Messaging Management then change the Maximum prompt size.

The message you up load to call pilot should be wave files. I have recorded direct to the call pilot through a handset and it works fine, up loading file works ok as well. Al the files need to be is a wave formate and up load it.

in cp classroom we used almost all wave files in the lab.. startrack, flinstones, elvis, i perfered some of the old may west clips that are on the web.. but them i'm old

From Nortel:
QUALITY OF RECORDINGS DEGRADE WHEN IMPORTING INTO APPLICATION BUILDER.
AS PER APPLICATION BUILDER GUIDE: NTP 555-7101-325:
If you have a prerecorded sound file in the correct format, you can import it into Application
Builder. Sound files must be mono 8-bit or 16-bit files in WAV format, with a sampling frequency
rate of 11 kHz, 22.05 kHz, or 44.1 kHz. You can import sound files from anywhere on your client
computer network. If you want to change the content of the voice item later, you can import a new
file. The new recording replaces the previous recording.
CALLPILOT CHANGES WAV FILE SPECIFICATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING, WHEN
IMPORTING INTO APPLICATION BUILDER:
Audio Format: PCM
Average Data Rate: 16.00 kb/s
Sample Rate: 8.00 KHz
Audio Sample Size: 16 bit
Channels: 1(Mono)
If you import a high quality WAV file (such as 16 bit mono 88.2 kb/s Average Data Rate with 44.1
kHz Sample Rate) into Application Builder, the recording will have distortion. As per CR
Q01062576, a note will be added to NTP 555-7101-325 to indicate recording quality can degrade
when importing a high quality WAV file into Application Builder. There will be no fix for sites who
have high quality recordings that degrade once imported into Application Builder.
TEST TO SEE IF WAV QUALITY WILL DEGRADE:
1) Create a new CallPilot Message from Desktop Messaging.
2) Attach the original WAV file to the message.
3) Send the message to yourself.
4) Save the VBK from the CallPilot message to a WAV file.
5) Play the new WAV file - this is how it will sound in Application Builder.

Hope this helps
Jeff
