Just curious,

Is there a real lady behind the default Call Pilot/Meridian Mail voice? I've heard the terms "voice mail Betty" thrown around.

Anyone have the story?

Joe

I do know her name was Joan.
She also did voice overs for airlines.

Joe: Just upgraded to 5.0 sucessfully. I bought a couple of SIP trunk licenses on the web. Awaiting delivery. Did you say that you were not succesful with SIP trunk on IP phones?? Also interested if you tried sip for skype?

Scott

Hi Scott,

You can run SIP trunks on 5.0.

I highly recommend a service (not an advertisement) called voip.ms, it interfaces very well with the Nortel BCM SIP GW trunks. They have NAT traversal, which my former provider Nexvortex didn't. Since Nexvortex did not offer NAT traversal, problems existed.

Here is what you need to do. Once you receive and install the SIP GW keycodes on the BCM:

-Sign up for a NAT traversal equipped voip service.
-Add all the SIP proxy and SIP information under the Telephony Resources/IP trunks menu on Element Manager. Are you familiar with how to add this information to the EM?
-You don't have to do anything with your router at this time I believe. You get around that with the call recording setup.
-Go into the Call Recording panel and activate your SIP lines, say Line 1-4 with the call recording feature. Set up a bogus email address unless you really intend to record calls. By making the SIP trunk lines run through the call recording feature, the BCM routes the SIP calls entirely through the system to the IP phones.

I had someone from Avaya set me up with this on the phone, so I don't have all the exact details.

Does any of that help?

Joe

That helps. I am waiting on my SIP trunk licenses. Do you have a cheap source??

I do have a cheap source, but I don't know how to correctly tell you on here without getting in trouble. I guess this site doesn't let you recommend vendors or places to buy equipment on here.
