hi, does anyone know if you can use operators or wildcards when naming a thru-dial block? we named a block Ext_Dial_3xxx and only extensions that start w/the number 3 can be dialed. this leaves out extensions that start w/the numbers 4, 5, 6 and 8.
i tried just changing the name to something generic like "office name", but it doesn't work. i also tried Ext_Dial_3xxx_4xxx, and that didn't work either.

You can not have spaces in the name, and for your extension naming... Try removing the underscores.

I just tried renaming a thru dialer block Ext_Dial_3000 on my system and it worked fine.

understood, but i want to allow more numbers, not just 3000.

Rename it to Thru_3_4_5_6 or Ext_3_4_5_6 (Used random numbers not necessarly the ones you wanted).

I tested this on my system just now.

You can name the block anything you want. What you call it doesn't change the properties of the block which is what allows the numbers/digits to be dialed. Right mouseclick on the block and choose properties. You should then see what you can dial.

I only seen the naming issue and not the dialing issue. As Iretrievers stated, the naming doesn't allow what numbers/digits to be dialed. Right click your Thru Dialer block and look at your properties. Find what Premission/Restriction list the block is using, and you will need to modify a Premission/Restriction list in your Call Pilot Manager to dial your numbers/digits needed.

Through dial to specific dns are setup in the thrudial properties..If you are wanting callers to thru dial to 3 4 5 6 or 8xxx extensions, then you either have to have a thru dial by dn for each, or allow caller to select 1 digit in your menu that is thru dial by number. Mail then ask the user to enter the dn (3xxx 4xxx etc) and uses the perm table that allow such. This is you only option if you want to allow dial by number and retain the other digits for other options...
