I am currently trying to setup smtp remote notification within Call Pilot - I cannot find where to enter the SMTP information. Has anyone else done this? I'm trying to setup so that a blackberry user receives an e-mail when he/she receives a voicemail.

any/all help is greatly appreciated.

Tom

There is a plcae in the call pilot manager to add an smtp server also there is a place to add the smtp under devices.

I've got my Exchange server IP address in for the SMTP - but cannot find/change anything else that seems to work. My vendor has no clue - can't even tell me if this is something that can be done. My CP version is: 1.07 - upgrading to 2.? in the next few weeks.

Im not sure if this will help, but I have this working and this is what I did.

DONE IN CALL PILOT

Location: Messaging : Notification Device Classes
Create Notification Device Classes

Device Service: Email over SMTP
Name: SMTP NOTIFICATION
Message Length: 70
Unicode Capable: Check box

Location: Messaging: Message Delivery Configuration

SMTP/VPIM

Incoming SMTP/VPIM: check box
Outgoing SMTP/VPIM: Check box
Outgoing SMTP Mail/Proxy Server: IP ADDRESS

DONE IN THE USER VMB

Remote Text Notification

Remote Text Notification Enabled:
Notification Device Class: SMTP Notificaton
E-Mail Address: USERS EMAIL ADDRESS
Unicode Capable Device: CHECK BOX

sorry - but I don't see -

Location: Messaging : Notification Device Classes
Create Notification Device Classes

are you running the same version - 1.07?

Ok - thanks anyway. I just got off the phone with another vendor - they're going to e-mail me the steps - will post if they work.

Thanks again..

grolschbo...did the text messaging ever work out for you? I'm trying to set the text messaging up and it's not working. I have followed the steps mentioned above. I have 1002 Call Pilot on 2.0

Under...
Location: Messaging: Message Delivery Configuration

SMTP/VPIM
I have the VPIM Compose Prefix box empty....any suggestions.thanks

According to the network engineers here, it has something todo with the first installed networkcard in the Server.
This means that it's sending the information to the wrong network ?!? Call pilot runs on NT4 server. The first network card installed was the e-lan. Has anyone tried to switch the lan cables yet?

I got the system to send me a message when I enter my groupwise email address but when I enter my phones' (Treo) email address the phone doesn't receive the text msg...

No - no luck sending via SMTP. Using Verizon/T-Mobile pager option.

Upgrading to Call Pilot 2.0 this weekend - will let you know.

found a solution....worked with the vendor, their tac, and our mail administrator...basically what the fix was is that call pilot sends out the text message to the SMTP server with the following:

postmaster@callpilot.yourdomainname

so, the fix for us was to have our mail administrator add callpilot.domainname to the rule that allowed outbound message traffic...hope it helps...cya
