Thru my menu, in application builder, one of my option allows the user to enter an ext. 1xxx, which routes across my tie lines to a Mitel. If the call is not answered within 3 rings(approx), the call is returned to CallPilot.
Is there a timer setting for this, that I can extend or
a setting which simply releases the call if the Tie lines are up? Curve ball - if I simply call 1xxx from any phone at this site the call goes thru.

is the call ringing on the far end? if so the mitel is sending it back, the pilot is not going to rls the call until it has answer supervision, or the caller hangs up, nothing is the nortel is returning the call to the mail if it is ringing on the remote end. if it's not going thru, check the ncos on the acd sets for your mail

lets restate the issue, sorry.. 81c with MerMail routes via dedicated T-1 ties lines to Mitel no problem, 11c with Call pilot has the issue routeing to Mitel via its own dedicated T-1 tie lines.

opt 11 to mitel, routes with ld 87 new cdp, dsc.. that is where the routing digits, need to be, if your routing all the 3xxx digits across, a single entry, 3, would be added as a dsc.. in 86 new rlb rli x will assign a frl and a route, not sure if this is what your missing or not, if you can dial the ext from the 11 but the Mail can't, then the ncos of the mail acd agents is to low or the frl on the rlb is to high
