I want to be able to manage a CCR tree remotely, adding and changing greetings and sub paths.
Currently I am getting a message "invalid number" after using VOICE and entering my number.
I am looking to change the least possible programming to allow the remote programming because I am going to change it back after recording to keep security.
I am looking for a punch list.
Voice mail port restrictions is the only thing I can think of that is getting in the way, but I wanted to run this by the best group going first.

If you mean you are trying to dial an outside number from the prompt in the browser where you noramlly put the DN...this cannot be done AFAIK

ive not tried this entering an external # - but what happens when you try to record say greeting 1 ? does that work?

this will eliminate the problem of restrictions

I have tried-did no work.
I have thought of this, but never tried...
Have someone onsite forward a DN to your external number, then enter that DN in the browser, and see if you can record it that way (probably not)

I think Senks and I are talking about different things though.
Are you remotely accessing this via the browser (call pilot network connection, or via RAD?)

Do what bkrike says, forward a courtesy or kitchen phone and enter that ext in the browser. You will need to allow trunk to trunk in tel programming.
Other option is use an IP set if on a BCM or a Soft Phone.

bkrike,
Thank you with a star. I am trying to dial an outside number from the prompt in the browser where you noramlly put the DN.I am going to try your suggestion about forwarding to an outside (my) number. I will also try this with a phantom.
I will report the results.
Thanks to everyone.

Small update.
I was told to try setting up routing and set up a filter that allows remote call forwarding (filter 02, assign that filter to the voice mail ports and then try it.

Our technician (Pete87) on Tek-Tips used our lab today and came up with this.
We are still not sure why he needed to have the route put out a 6 rather than absorb none. This has been tested and works.

Remotely Change Greetings on Call Pilot

1.Determine number of R.A.D. line to system; put line in its own pool.
2. Build a destination code with the first number of the number you want to dial. For example, if you want to dial 6xx-xxxx, the Destination code would be 6.
3.Build a Route that out dials the number used for the Destination code. In this case 6.
4.Point the Route from #3 to use the pool that you put the R.A.D. line in.
5.Allow the R.A.D. extension access to the pool from # 1.
6.Make the R.A.D. extension CFNA to 6xx-xxxx after 2 rings. The R.A.D. is programmed to answer a line, not an extension call. Make sure the R.A.D. is programmed to answer at 6 which is two rings.
7.Disconnect from the R.A.D.
8.I.P. into the Call Pilot. Use the R.A.D. extension as the # to call.
9.If you do not have a direct R.A.D. line you can take one POTS line temporarily to do the same thing, and then return it when done.

What NARSBARS gave you guys was a first draft. We're still
refining it and when done we will post a FAQ, as this seemed to be a stumpper.

I don't know what I'm missing in this conversation, but I have many Call Pilots that I administer remotely.

I just go to the greeting or whatever I want to record and enter the external dial string, including the 9, and call myself (or other person who does the recording) and work the play/record/stop/save from my browser. It's very cool and works like a charm!

Are others having problems dialing an external number?? I do have "Maximum outdialing channels = 1", which I think lets me dial out from the cp, but that is a default setting.

I am currently supporting cp's on MICS and on BCM, some with POTS and some with PRI's, and all works well.

What happens when you try to dial an external number???

The solution is based on having your voice mail ports and voice mail boxes restricted from outdialing. I restrict all voice mail ports from outdialing to prevent fraud.

That’s interesting and good to know phoneygirl. I will have to try some more when I get a chance.

On a side note, with the MICS, what are using to get into the CP from offsite? The internal modem, Dedicated IP, port forwarding, or remote desktop?
