I just had a cp power supply go out(no power output) so I went to my supplier and paid $100.00 for a replacement and it wasent even Nortel...
So I went to Radioshack to see if they had a cheeper replacement. I found a 9vdc 1500ma replacement for $21.99.
I can't see any reason it would not work? What do you guys think.
This is for future reference cause I replaced the one that was bad with the $100.00 unit...

Is it regulated? My only concern would be voiding the warranty.

Think about how much a new CallPilot is if that new power supply ruined the unit. I would want the Nortel manufactured one for sure.

If you're going to try an after-market power supply, I would at least spend a few extra $$$ and get a regulated supply. These CallPilots are (occasionally) whacky as is...adding voltage spikes/surges probably won't make it run any better.

The power supply that comes with the CP's is faulty. The replacement we send out for free is not a "Nortel" specific unit. Your vendor shouldn't be charging you for replacing a known faulty part.

Which particular power CP supplies are defective? I'm wondering if I should keep a spare on hand?

The old power supply number is: A0838158

The new power supply number is: A0517863

I carry extras with me on all service calls.
