I recently got this trouble ticket on a 201i Call Pilot not backing up to tape. Neither the CD or tape drive show up in device manager. I ordered all new cables and a new cd and tape drive and installed them today and have the same problem. I shut down the Call Pilot, set the scsi ID's on both and powered it back up. They still don't show up in device manager. When I run a scan for hardware changes it will run the tape drive but it still wont load it into the device manager view. Also in the Call Pilot backup restore utility when I query the tape drive it says there is no tape drive on the system. I found a bent pin on the intermediate scsi adapter but I replaced it and have the same issue. Any ideas????????? I'm at a loss.

Thanks

Have you tried replacing the tape, it could be bad .....

Yep, brand new tape. Keep in mind from my previous post it doesn't see the CD drive either.

Checked the SCSI terminations?

NTP 555-7101-220 should have the info.

Without the terminator fitted larger call pilots can get up to the Windows boot screen and then hang which makes it appear to be a windows/driver issue.

No problems on boot up, everything works fine.

UPDATE, brought all scsi components to our lab and they work fine here. Sounds like I have a defective server or something hosed up in the OS.

We had this exact same problem at one of our sites and was fixed by replacing the 201i server card. Just swapped the dongle and hard drive and now everything is fine. Thank goodness for maint contract, no charge to us.

It's a phone system, NOT a clock!

If they are not plugged in and powered up at bootup. The drivers will not load. If it is a windows 2003 system, You can use find new hardware in control panel to load them up without rebooting.

I'm way past that Wane47. Already tried everything you mentioned in my original post. Going to replace the server Tuesday night and hopefully that will fix it without reloading the OS. Sounds like bdmcdonald99 had the same exact problem, going to try his fix by replacing the server. I think something is blown on the motherboard. The weird thing is that when I tell it to scan for hardware changes it will actually spin the tape drive but it will never show up in device manager and neither will the CD drive. Thanks for the info though, I do appreciate it.

Can you try to do image on callpilot server using clan network option instead of tape drive?

UPDATE!!!!! Replaced server and this took care of the SCSI devices not showing up. Thanks everyone!!!!
