Hello All,

We need to setup a scenario where a person could dial one extension (e,g, 5000) that would call several extensions at the same time as well as cell phones outside of our switch. Is this possible? I havent been able to find any documentation on the ability to do this.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Joel

By the way, I am using a Definity G3 with version 10 software. Sorry about that.

I think you can set up a coverage answer group, wih the cell phones entered as a VDN/VEC set.

DonBott.

take two of these and call me in the morning

Don, the problem with doing it this way is that only one person can answer. They would like to be able to call everyone at the same time and have everyone answer. This would be used in emergency situations.

Ah so. quite a problem. The only thing a can think of right now involves empty soupcans and string. If I think of anything better I'll let you know.

Good luck

Thanks Don. Ive hit a wall with this and one manager says that he saw somewhere that Nortel and Siemens switches can do this, so he figured that the Definity should as well.

Put the extensions in a terminated extension group, and use the EC500 feature for the cellphones.

Thank you. Im going to have to research this to figure it out. Thanks again.

This is what Im getting from the manual about a TEG. "Once a member of the TEG has answered a group call, the TEG is considered busy. If a second call is directed to the group, it follows a coverage path if one has been assigned."

Unfortunately, they want all members to pick up the call at the same time and be on the phone at the same time.

The problem with your situation is it assumes that everyone is there to answer a call simultaneously (which is probably not true), and that the system will ring every phone until such time as it is answered, and automatically connect everyone to a group conference.

It seems that what you really want is a dial in conference bridge service, coupled with a "group page" (Like belt pagers or cell phone text messaging). Use the group page to alert others to call.

There really isn't a feature that would allow a call to continue to ring at other desks after it's been answered at a first location. (How would that sound? Would you get an answer and still hear a phone ringing?) Frankly, I don't remember such a feature on Nortels either. (Don't know about Seimens.)

The coverage answer group is probably closest, but if a person activates send all calls on their phone, they remove themselves from the group, and like you said, only one person can answer.

You might just want a bridged appearance on every phone that everyone can pickup if they hear the ring. It won't include the cell users, but they can be added to a conference after.

There's a system made by a company I used to work for that has this feature, but it's a pricy system for just an emergency situation. You're better off going with pagers/cellphone text messages and a conference bridge company that let's you do dial in conferences without scheduling them.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)

Thank you very much. Excellent info. I figured it wasnt something that could be done on the Definity since I tried everything I could on there. Thanks again.
