Hi,

Does the Cisco Call Manager have a telnet inteface you can use to add users/extensions? (i.e something similar to what the Avaya Call Manager has)

Thanks

Rgds

Nope. Good question. CUCM now has a CLI as of v5 which you access with an SSH client such as Putty. The CLI lets you do all kinds of maintenance tasks like restarting the server, checking database replication, etc. There's not support in the CLI currently to add a device or extension, but Cisco has added a lot of commands in CUCM 7. There's also a database method of access called AXL which could let you add a device programmatically without using the GUI, but the browser method is much easier to use.

Thanks 'phrk'!

I came across the CLI and AXL docs during my research but was hoping there would be a telnet inteface available.

I take it there are probably some license requirements for the AXL interface?

What we're trying to achieve is to enable our software to programmatically manage users/extensions and the 'class of service' of these extensions so we can control the users calling ability. I've gone through the AXL spec but have found no reference to 'class of service' or 'class of restriction'. Do you know if Cisco uses a different term for this feature?

Much appreciated
Stephen

On the Avaya, dialing permission was determined by FRL specified in the COR. For Cisco, it's the Calling Search Space (or CSS) that defines dialing permission. The CSS can be defined at both the phone level and Directory Number level (if both have it specified, the CSS specified within the Directory Number is used). Log into the web interface to see which level it's specified at and a list of the ones you can use.
