How do licenses work on Call Manager. We are adding a few phones and need a new feature license for each phone but we have a 800 or so open licenses to add phones. What are the opened licenses for if we need to buy this new type. Under system and licenses on the call manager you can use the calculator and it shows we have plenty of licenses for what we want to add. Were are these new licenses installed on the system if not under the add license file.

If you have unused licenses you do not need to buy more. That said can you be more specific on what you mean by "add new feature licenses?

Here is the part number and description:

LIC-CUCM-USR-A Unified Communications Manager Enhanced
Single User-Under 1K

LIC-CUCM-BASIC-A Unified Communications Manager Basic Single
User-Under 1K

We have plenty of dlu's to left.

Are you upgrading? What are you trying to do? Who's telling you you need new licenses?
Again if you have enough dlus, you don't need more. As far as exact descriptions and differences on the two licenses you have posted (enhanced vs basic) has the descriptions and differences

We are not upgrading or I do not see it on the quote. We are just adding about 200 phones and our vendor says we need the licenses. I told our folks we do not need them but they asked the vendor and they said we do.

There is no way for your vendor to know how many dlus you have available on your system so they include the licenses with the quote for the phones. Thats not unusual. If you are sure you have enough, tell them so and ask them to revise the quote to exclude the licenses. Depending on the phones you are adding you will need a minimum of 600 Dlus available on your system. Probably 1200 is what you a looking at unless you are adding single line ip phones.
