I face a strange problems today with 1600 series buttons, when the user press the call log buttons, and pickup the handset the phone is directly ring on the person appears on the buttons.
Iam now in implementation new Avaya IPO Rls9.1 on KADDB (KING ABDULLAH 11 DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT BUREU), the customer have an ericsson pbx and we move it to new avaya ipo. as usually becuse use of the feature is different from old Ericsson to new avaya ipo, he see its a problems with product. I will here brifly describe some of it:
1. Call Waiting - previous on Ericsson ( ring on the second called party appearence, the caller notic that is on onther call) - I told him how avaya looks in this feature and send him the defenition of this
feature from avaya knowledge base document.
2. Contacts buttons - previous he seach on contacts based on spelling letters, avaya have a new style on this seach by first name , not understanding seeing it problems
3. Last, Call Log Buttons - when the user press the call log buttons, and pickup the handset the phone is directly ring on the person appears on the buttons, try to tell him that's how it's supposed to work.
4. when set call follow me or call forward, the name of the person forwarded to it not display on the phone even if this person picks the phone, previously from the beginning the dispaly name shown in the display, and of course erricson doing it from the first
of cource i send to him an email describe the feature and how its work rom avaya doc. and last iam write the following " I know you're used to a certain way of using these features in old phones and this disagree with you now, each company has a vision and definition. And do not forget that Avaya is a leading telecommunications company in the world."

now. I dont know if there a way to contact him or he need an official letter from avaya told him thats this is the feature and this is how to work.
1. That's an IP Office Release 10.0 feature.
2. The Avaya IP Office search can be configured to be first name, last name, any part of name, etc. How to do that was posted here recently so do a quick search through recent posts.
3. On many Avaya phones, the redial mode can be set to 'One' and then Redial will work exactly as the old Ericsson used to.
4. Sorry but I gave up trying to understand this.
@sizbut: 2- yes, I know that, but the customer need it to by letter, press the letter then flow to match the full name, avaya intellegent in this I know when you press first and second button goes you directly to your search.
3. Iam here talking about call log buttons not redial button, as amriddle understand and answer me (rings the person being displayed on the screen, yes, that's how it's supposed to work)
4. here is the case
forward all calls to Manager to its secertary.
when I call the manager ( on the sys status I see thats its forwarded from the first second to the secertary), but on the phone dispaly
its shown me the manager until the secertary answer the calls, her name display on the screen.
The Call log works very intelligently. Press the Call Log button it shows the Call Log. When you lift the hand set it calls the currently selected entry in the call log since there are multiple possible entries shown. If Ericsson only ever called the most recent entry then that was very poor operation on the Ericsson.
Similar the directory search is a lot more powerful. Just configure it right.
@sizbut: yes i know that the directory is very intelligent in search, Now comes the good bit.....it’s so easy to find someone. Once you’ve pressed the contacts button just start typing out their name on the number pad, pressing whichever button contains the next letter in
their name. Don’t think about where on the button the letter is. If the letter is on the button just press it...the system is intelligent enough to find a match.
this is the default, whats do you mean that I need to configure it .
Directory Search NoUser Source Number: TUI:NAME_SEARCH_MODE=X where X is one of the following:
- 1: Match starting from first word in names.
- 2: Match starting from last word in names.
- 3: Match simultaneously on first and last word in names.
- 4: Match from the penultimate words in names.
- 7: Match simultaneously from first, last and penultimate words in names.
