I have a 3300 running version 7.1 and I seem to have two different hold timers coming into play. When calls are made within the phone system the COS Call Hold timer seems to be used, but when an outside caller is put on hold, some other hold timer is kicking in and pulling the call back after 45 seconds.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what is going on here?

Cheers,

Robin

there was an article on this. I believe the short answer is the trunk cos hold timer is used...

By Default, the hold timer is based on the COS of the originating (calling) device. In the case of the internal call, it would be the stations COS. In the case of the External call it would be the Trunks COS.

There is a COS option "Use Called Party Call Hold Timer
" That is default value - NO.

You can change this to Yes

Select "Yes" and the hold recall timer is dependant on the holding device's COS. If this COS option is enabled on all calling telephones, all of the hard hold recalls will occur in the time that is specified in the given holding party's COS. When this option is set to "No", the hold recall timer is dependant on the calling party's COS.

I would change this value in both the COS of the trunk and the station as I don't know for certain which governs the action.

Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now.

Thanks for the fast replies! I tried just setting the COS for the stations and it did not make any difference. Setting the value in the COS for the trunk did the trick though.

Thanks again guys!
