I am trying to accomplish a simple task but have no success no matter what I do :)
I need to be able to forward customer's incoming calls to another extension and if it does not answer - to go to that second extension voice mail. It would be nice if the customer could have a button to be able to turn this feature on or off, but I cannot make not only that but I am not even able to hard-program that thing... :)
So, call-fwd does not work because if an Ext. 2 does not answer, call goes back to an Ext. 1 voice mail, that is a system default.
Send All Calls does not help me too.
So, I made a vector:
rote-to number <Ext. 2> with cov "y" if "unconditionally"
but it just rings on Ext. 2 indefinitely and never goes to Ext. 2 voice mail.
So I ended up with the vector:
messaging split <VM hunt group> for extension <Ext. 2>
which directs the call directly to the Ext. 2 voice mail box.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

have 2 coverage paths, the 2nd which messages skill for voice mail for primary extension, and coverage path 1 should go straight to voice mail when not call forwarded. Then when you call forward you can use a feature access code to toggle the correct coverage path to the coverage needed, on the the station form you will need to define the 2nd coverage path number.

Thank you, joe2938, however it does not solve my problem.
I need to forward Ext.1 to Ext.2 and if Ext.2 does not answer I need to direct call to Ext.2 voice mail box.
It seems like a simple task, but I am not able to solve it somehow...

on extension 1 have a coverage path that routes to a vdn to a vector that says message skill (hunt group number) for extension #2 extension

joe2938, this is what I did:
messaging split <VM hunt group> for extension <Ext. 2>
except I have "split" instead of "skill" and I suppose this is the same command, right?
So this solution directs call from Ext.1 directly to VM box of Ext.2. e.i. it does not ring on Ext.2 phone and that is my problem.

Try using a Cov. path on ext 1, that has ext. 2 and vm.
Then when ext. 1 want calls to go to ext. 2 hit send all calls.

then put extension 1 as point 1 in the coverage path then have the vdn as point 2 in the coverage path, that way it rings ext 2 and then will go into the mailbox of extension 2 voice mail. I do this all the time and it works.

In first case it will end up in vm box that belongs to Ext.1.
In second - will ring indefinitely on Ext.2

joe2938,
That is clever idea and it should work, but it does not. Somehow it skips point1 of the Cov path and goes right away to the point2 that is VDN (means it goes right away to the Ext.2 VM). Oter words it works the same way I have it described in original post. :(
OK, here is what I did:
Ext.1 is 8027
Ext.2 is 8227
I need x8027 ring on x8227 then go to x8227 vm box.
SO, I created Cov. path 28 for x8027 where point1 is x8227 with 3 rings. Point2 is VDN 3003 with vector 5 that has a single line:
messaging split <VM hunt group> for extension <Ext. 2>
Please see pics of list trace sta 8027

I believe the call forwarding is over riding the call coverage, so do not use call forward but 2 coverage paths as stated earlier, you can always use a fac to toggle between active coverage paths.

joe2938, no forwarding has been used.
I created Cov. path 28 for x8027 where point1 is x8227 with 3 rings. Point2 is VDN 3003 with vector 5 that has a single line:
messaging split <VM hunt group> for extension <Ext. 2>
The result is on the pictures.

status station for x8227, it should ring it. Can you call x8227 directly?

rote-to number <Ext. 2> with cov "y" if "unconditionally"
but it just rings on Ext. 2 indefinitely and never goes to Ext. 2 voice mail.

Go back to the cov pa and set thos option to yes.

Cvg Enabled for VDN Route-To Party? n

So cov pa of the main number is a cov pa and the second step is a vdn/vector.

change that blue N to Y. That’s what I adviced. So then the cov pa of the vector step will be touched.

G van Hamburg,
I think I tried this already, but I'll try again this evening. I am not able to play much with this setup during business hours and I am not able to have a simulating set up.

1st of all add more ring time to the coverage path of coverage path 28, also give it a shot, make Cvg Enabled for VDN Route-To Party? n a yes as suggested. And then retest. If this also fails then post a snapshot of display system-parameters coverage-forwarding.
