I need assistance in troubleshooting a Call Forwarding Issue on an existing and previously working TN. The extension will no longer automatically forward the call to the external number. Please review my TN and let me know if you see any obvious issues. I can't figure out why it was working fine and then stop working. Unless, The call forwarding is something I need to do from the command line OR from the set.

I'm new at this but understand a great deal; but forgive my ignorance as I am steadily learning.

Option 51C

You cannot tell if the forward button is actually activated unless you visit the phone, or LD 80 TRAC the TN.

Correct me if I am wrong, I can connect a 2616 in my comm. room on that TN and when the extension is dialed I should see the forward key being activated or not when the call comes in to that set.

I can run LD 80 TRAC on the TN and monitor what is occuring during that call.

I will check both.

I have been told by the long time supervisor that the set doesn't exist. It's just an extension so the production floor can call local and then be forwarded to an external number to a communication center in another state.

Thanks for your help GHTROUT

If you connect a 2616 phone to that TN, you should see the button indicator on solid. If you do not, press it twice. That button is the second from the top, on the left column of buttons.

If the TN is used only to forward to an external number then it would be better to use a phantom 500 TN or, if you can't do that, then a dummy ACDN.
That way you aren't wasting a hardware TN and you don't need to worry about the CFW getting deactivated.

Okay, So GHTROUT's instructions fixed it. I pressed the forward button twice and the key stayed activated. All calls proceed to call forward as designed now.

So, Please explain this to me: That TN 4 0 4 0 did not have a set punched down on it. I have since taken the test 2616 off of the TN and the forwarding still works. How could the forward feature been disabled if a phone was not punched on that TN.

I will research the phantom 500 and get it swapped over to that soon.

Thanks and I'm glad that you guys still share the knowledge on this stuff.

Now, Would this have caused the forwarding button to be disabled? We had a lightning storm that took out a few cards a few weeks ago. We replaced the controller, pri and few analog and digital cards. But not the digital card with this TN. During this process, We did a hard reboot of the system.

If I understand this right, when the system rebooted that reset the cards and the TN associated with my call forwarding feature. Did the reboot reset that forward button being pressed twice or should that automatically be activated on that TN after a system reboot.

Thanks,

If the PBX does a power cycle (reboot, reload, sysload, etc), Call Forward is deactivated. However, there is a prompt to "save" Call Forward. It is in the Configuration Datablock... a prompted called "CFWS". If you set CFWS=YES, then the phone will remain forwarded

Print CFN in LD22 and Change CFN in LD17

- CFWS (NO) YES Call Forward Saved on SYSLOAD

If you follow Stanley's advice and converting this to a phantom 500 set is better. Also, you can setup the SCPW with a code and do remote call forwarding to another destination from another telephone on the system without having to punch down the phone on the block.
