This is not really specific to Avaya IP Office but since I have knowledge of these systems, I though it was a good place to start. My company wants to close one of its offices and divert all calls to its number (a 20 number DDI range delivered over 4 channels [2 x ISDN2e]) to its HQ number. B.T. can only offer a recorded announcement because a DDI range is involved! I have an old Cybergear Gold. Could I get one of the ISDN2e's removed (since the Cybergear can only cope with one) and then setup unconditional call forwarding. I have tested this with no luck

I think you should have a incoming call route with a shortcode as destination.
The shortcode telephonenumber can be any number you like.

You should be able to do this with the cybergear, however BT are giving you a fob off

we regularly get bt diverting whole DDI ranges when a circuit is faulty. The only thing they cant do is Divert a partial range.

A fob off? Sounds vaguely disgusting... surely nothing BT would do!

Thank you for your replies. As you say B.T. are probably fobbing me off! In fact out of the DDI range one of the numbers is actually the fax number and all the others are voice. It would be useful if one of the numbers can be forwarded to another fax machine and the rest go to other voice lines. Interestingly I was trying to program a Cybergear Gold with the same software supplied with my IP Office and it seemed to cause no problems even though many of the features are probably not supported on the Cybergear Gold! How does forwarding work? Does the PBX give the exchange the number to forward to or does the PBX actually make a call to the forward number and connect the two thus using two channels for each call forwarded?

My cybergear Gold programming is fairly typical in that DDI matching is used to forward one of the DDI numbers (the fax number) to a hunt group that only contains a fax extension and all other calls go to the hunt group in which the voice extensions are listed. Do I need to use shortcodes or does the CGG support unconditional forward (and huntgroup forward)?

Many thanks in advance for your responses.

The Cyeber gear gold will be making a 2nd call, this means that you will only be able to process 1 call at a time.

The easiest way to foeward the calls on the cybergear is to default the cfg then type the destination telephone number into the destination field of the incomming call route.

BT would only be able to divert the DDI range to 1 destination number.

they would not be able to split out the Fax number
Have you enquired about haveing the number proted on to the bearer at the new site or are they on seperate exchanges?
